Bendis began his comic book career by writing and doing the art to his independant comics that included Fire, Jinx and A.K.A Goldfish which were originally published for Caliber Comics and then Image.

Now, Bendis is known for his recent all Marvel event: House of M. He's also written Powers, Alias, The Pulse, Daredevil The Man Without Fear. Along with Mark Millar and Bill Jemas, Bendis became one of the main architects of Marvel's Ultimate imprint which began in 2001 with Bendis penned Ultimate Spider-Man. He has also written Ultimate Team Up, Ultimate fantastic Four and Ultimate X-Men. He now writes Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, The New Avengers, The Secret Invasion min-series event, The Dark Avengers, now with the Siege event coming up, he will also be writing that mini-series. He is now writing the New Avengers and Avengers series. He has confirmed that he will be working on Moon Knight next.

Awards

Brian Michael Bendis has been acclaimed for his work in the field of comics and to date has won 5 Eisner Awards in the following categories

• Talent Deserving of Wider Recognition in 1999
• Best New Series for Powers with Michael Avon Oeming in 2001
• Best Writer in 2002, and again in 2003
• Best Continuing Series for Daredevil with Alex Maleev in 2003

In addition to to those accolades Bendis has been named 'Best Writer of the Year' numerous times by both Wizard Magazine and the Comics Buyers Guide. The Activision game Ultimate Spider-Man was also written by Bendis and won the E3 Peoples Choice Award.
 
Undermining all the awards that Bendis has achieved under his wing, that does not excuse the unfortunate fact that his writing for a majority of characters is either just not up to standard, or, is not good at all, which is the main reason why Brian Michael Bendis has a lot of comic-fans that do not like him as such, they feel he has more or less ruined and singlehandedly corrupted the back-stories of some of their most favorite characters and does not even attempt to put any effort into his stories or the characters in them, a very good example of this can be shown in his ongoing Avengers and New Avengers series, where the Avengers as a team have been fighting Norman Osborn/HYDRA/H.A.M.M.E.R for more than half a decade.

Biography

Brian Michael Bendis was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 18, 1967. He was raised in a strict Jewish household and attended a private Orthodox school for boys until adolescence. Even at a young age he yearned for a career in comics and even confided in friends when he was 13 years old that he would be the next " George Perez". Later, his wife Alisa would become involved in his work while running their business, JINXWORLD, through which Bendis publishes both his independant and Marvel Comics work. He now lives with Alisa and their two daughters in Portland, Oregon.
