Not a fitting end at all!
I've been an avid fan of the whole series ever since it appeared after 52 (the real one). Anyways, the whole tie-in of Booster made sense, since he was the protector of the timestream and it had been completely turned upside down by the Reverse Flash. The battles with Doomsday made a real interesting read as well, considering the history between the two characters, and it was fun to go back to the pre-destruction Coast City.
While everything up till issue 46 leads up nicely to the grand finale, and the cover teases Booster teaming with Barry Allen, the finale itself is, well.... I don't like using new web lingo but FAIL is the only thing that comes to mind. Its almost as if the ending that the writers had planned somehow got aborted right after the first few pages. I would have expected the book to get Booster & Barry to team up and utilize the whole "chronal signature from the speedforce" more effectively in order to fix things, or at least even create a bridge between this issue and the anticipated Flashpoint # 5. But then, nothing like that happens at all.
I have no idea why it ended the way it ended, as Booster Gold was the ONLY book in regular continuity that was tied-in with the Flashpoint series. That itself should make readers take the character and the book seriously, as its one of my favorite books. Unfortunately, we may never know why this ended the way it did, and the only thing that'll make me happy is that if Booster somehow finds his way into the big battle in Flashpoint # 5. But as far as last issues is concerned, #47 is a sore disappointment and an unfitting conclusion to perhaps one of the best DC books in the last few years.
Adios Booster Gold. See you in (hopefully) Flashpoint #5. And looking forward to see you in the new JLI series.
