Tabitha Smith was born in Roanoke, Virginia. Her parents divorced when she was young and her father remarried. She never got along with her parents but when she was 13

When the Beyonder arrived on Earth, Tabitha thought he was a mutant and so she accompanied him. They went back to the X-mansion and the X-Men and New Mutants began fighting. The Beyonder leaves and takes Tabitha to the planet of Celestials. The Beyonder began battling the Celestials and Tabitha was terrified of this. She demanded the Beyonder to return her to Earth. She returns and alerts the Avengers about the Beyonder, Tabitha would proceed to lead the Beyonder into an ambush. The Beyonder regarded Tabitha as his only friend and then left.

X-Factor

during X-Factor

Tabitha started traveling across the U.S. and she met a criminal named Vanisher. She joined his Fallen Angels gang and she learned many skills including how to steal. Tabitha started becoming wary of Vanisher and called Cyclops. She would soon join X-Factor after they successfully convinced her. Tabitha started pulling pranks on Iceman and this made Iceman retaliate and they continued to pull pranks on each other for years. After a few missions Tabitha along with X-Factor and other mutants were kidnapped by an anti-mutant organization. After they escape Tabitha joined the X-Factor trainees and formed X-Terminators.

Later some members of X-Terminators including Tabitha joined the New Mutants. She falls in love with teammate Cannonball during this time. When Cable arrives, he teaches her how to control her abilities and she no longer is afraid of them going crazy.

X-Force

X-Force

When Genosha was not a mutant sanctuary and inhabited mutant hating people there, they sent solders to attack the X-mansion. Tabitha was kidnapped and were saved by The X-Men. They battle Cameron Hodge, the leader of Genosha and beat him. Cable decided to take the New Mutants and change their name to X-Force. They did not affiliate with the X-Men anymore. During this time Tabitha changed her code name to “Boomer”.

The X-Force eventually rejoined the X-Men and moved back to the mansion. During this time Tabitha was left behind on a mission and was taking care of Sabretooth. When Sabretooth got free he tried to attack her, but Psylocke was there and engaged in a battle with him. Tabitha did not do anything as she was scared frozen while Psylocke was beaten nearly to death.

After that event Tabitha changed her attitude so her mentality would be stronger. She would change her costume and adopted the code name “Meltdown.” She started throwing explosive spears again but this time with better control. She could direct them mentally, reabsorb them, and detonate them whenever she wants.

When Cable left X-Force Tabitha began getting romantically involved with Sunspot while she was still dating Cannonball. Cannonball catches Tabitha and Sunspot kissing and was extremely angry and flew away. They eventually reconciled, including Iceman and rejoined X-Force. Tabitha started to distant herself from Sunspot when he gained a massive amount of money and became a jerk.

During a mission, Tabitha and her team were presumed dead because they set off a huge explosion. They would appear at a press conference to show they were not dead and created a new X-Force.After the events of House of M called M-Day, Tabitha was one of the mutants that retained their powers.

Nextwave

Tabitha became a founding member of Nextwave and grew her hair long. She and her Nextwave team rebelled against the group that was controlling them. They would battle many times and finally a final showdown with parody characters. Tabitha and Nextwave defeats them.

Powers

Tabitha is a mutant able to create plasmic balls of energy. These balls vary in size and power. She can create balls the size of marbles and balls the size of a beach ball. When one a bomb the size of a beach ball explodes it is capable of smashing a tree trunk or denting metal. Through great training with X-Force and X-Factor she has learned to muffle the sound of the explosion and create streams of energy. Also she can absorb the energy back into herself instead of making it explode.
