The Boiling Rock is settled in the middle of a lake. The Boiling Rock secures the most Dangerous Prisoners, Most were Robbers, Fire Nation Traitors, And War Prisoners(Suki and Hakoda). There is no way going in or out of the Boiling Rock unless you travel in a Gondola or a Blimp(Zuko and Sokka). It have been told that no one ever escaped the Boiling Rock, Those who were foolish enough to try to swim of died because of the intense heat.
The Boiling Rock is said to have thousands of cells than can be opened by a control room. The prisoners to be held inside there own cells when its lockdown. it is sadi that anyone who disobeys any prisonguards are thrown inside "Cell Coolers". The Cell Coolers are designed for powerful Firebenders, The Firebenders are unable to Firebend in the freezing cold. The Boiling Rock is ran by a powerful Warden, Mai's Uncle. He always abuses the prisoners. They usually put them in Coolers or hang them upside down. After The Invasion Force failed The Adults were imprisoned, Such as Hakoda and Suki. But the rest of the Invasion Force were imprisoned in the Capital City Prison. Sokka and Zuko then traveled to the Boiling Rock to save Hakoda and Suki. They then traveled to the Boiling Rock with a Zuko's Blimp. Sokka and Zuko then disguised themselves as Prison Guards and searched for Hakoda and Suki. There plan failed when Zuko was busted and was imprisoned. When Zuko and Suki was mopping the floor, They decided to make a plan but Chit Sang heard them. Chit Sang then asked to help escape to or he'll tell the Warden. Chit Sang then asked his two friends to join in with the Escape. But Sokka didnt want to leave at the fact that his Dad might be the one in the Gondola. He then asked Chit Sang andhis friends to leave while him, Suki, and Zuko help find Hakoda.
As Chit Saang and his Friends was about to escape, Chit Saang grabbed a scrap of metal and started to padle. As he paddled, He accidentally dipped his hand in the boiling water and screamed. one of the guards immediatly heard him and called the Warden. The Guard then shot a huge metal arrow at the Cooler and hauled it into the Prison Ground. Zuko then was imprisoned and was shock that Mai was there. Sokka than saw Hakoda was at the prison, He then asked his Dad a plan to escape. The Warden then asked Chit Sang who made the plan, After Chit Sang didnt say anything, The Warden totured him until he said something. Chit Sang then said its one of the new recruits. As Chit Sang was about to point out Sokka, He pointed one of the others.
They then caused a riot an captured the Warden so that they could use him as a bargain chip for their escape. The group stole a gondola and fled to shore, only to be confronted by Ty Lee and Azula. The group managed to hold them off, but the guards were cutting the gondola lines, which would send the entire group plunging into the lake. Much to the shock of everyone there, Mai attacked the guards and freed the stalled gondola, allowing Zuko and his friends to flee. They then hijacked Azula's Airship and fled to the Western Air Temple. The Warden was left on shore.
Azula confronted Mai and demanded an explanation. Mai explained that she still loved Zuko, more than she feared Azula. Enraged, Azula attacked, only to be disabled by Ty Lee. The two girls were then arrested on Azula's orders, presumably in the Boiling Rock itself.
