This guy smacked around the Mighty Avengers and punched Sentry into orbit.
He is the man. Cant' wait to see more of him!
Blue Marvel
Character » Blue Marvel appears in 219 issues.
When Adam discovered his super-powers, he fashioned a secret identity with which to protect his country, and became Blue Marvel. He served as a hero for years, and was one of the most popular heroes of his time. Adam was pressured by the government to retire, because of how much power he had and for being black. He was forced out of retirement to face his greatest foe and former best friend, Anti-Man.

Totally agree. That Sentry thing was awesome.
"what are his powers?"
He is stronger than Sentry and just as fast and tough. Haven't seen any energy manipulation yet.
But having a character that could stalemate Sentry is good since he is a little off.
He needs to be on the New Avengers. They need the power and he would be against Osborne.
does marvel real need a superman? another superman? I dont know about you all but IMO marvels MO is that they dont have superman! it makes all their heros that much more important it makes them unified. In many ways i think it defines marvel the lack of an all powerful hero that can swoop in and save the day in the blink of eye.
is this dude ever going to appear again. His whole comic was about him finally becoming a superhero again after being forced to retire by the government. Now when Dark Reign is happening and the good guys could use a powerhouse to rival Sentry on their side he is no where to be find.
and had to comment.
@AtPhantom:
totally agree, keep Bendis away from Marvel and I might be able to read it again.
@speedlgt:
No Marvel does not need a(nother) superman.
I didn't like his mini-series...and I don't like his concept. He struck me as a black rehash of Sentry. A powerful Superman-type that was forgotten by the world and he returns to save it from a enemy that only he can destroy and is his opposite. Same crap, different character. The character has promise going forward, but as it stands, he sucks in my book.
Maybe they will bring him in to battle Ares. Cyke made reference in a recent comic that somehow, someway they need to find someone to take that monster (Ares) down.
Maybe that is Blue Marvel's big entry battle. Can't do worse for a first showing than taking out the God of War.
Well...one of the really cool things about the Blue Marvel is that he is this extremely powerful and intelligent superhero...that just happens to be African-american. I think that European-americans may be overlooking this fact when examining the Blue Marvel. Ultra powerful African-american superheros are not just falling out of the sky. However, that is only a small part of his appeal. As the mini reveals, it's the depth of his character that is really intriguing...his courage in the face of resentment and hatred. For years, Marvel quietly hinted at racism in a parallel way..with the X-Men. Kevin Grievoux addresses it directly...but in such a tasteful way. As mentioned, Adam Brashears skin is not his only appeal. He is an intriguing, multi-faceted character....who just happens to be in the elite of ultra powered superheroes.
I cannot wait until Marvel does something further with this character.
