MIA: Dan and Ted
This was a good origin story for Khaji Da but it was still disappointing. The story alone is great. It has all kinds of history and adventure and I just loved it. It is also a great stand alone book. Something you don't see much any more.
The disappointing part was no Ted Kord or Dan Garret. Maybe I was wrong to hope but I really wanted to see the Blue Beetle predecessors here. This was the final nail in the New 52 coffin for these characters. I am just so disappointed in how DC has handled this issue and long for the past. Jaime Reyes is a great character and I am not disappointed in his run as the Blue Beetle. I thought killing Ted Kord off was a huge mistake for many reasons however. The two big ones are that Ted should have remained as a mentor to Jaime and Ted should have had some relationship with Jamie before before Jaime became the Blue Beetle.
At any rate DC could have corrected this and never did. They even showed a treasure hunter finding the Khaji Da. That could have easily been Dan Garret. I am mournful of how DC has played with it's universe. Nothing is sacred any more. One day you will wake up and Batman will be a blonde, teenaged girl who lives with her parents and wears a powder blue costume. She will have super strength and mental powers that are off the scale. You will read it and say. "What the hell happened to Batman!?!
Anyway this is a great story. I only gave it three stars because of the loss. Not based on the story itself. I would have given the story itself an eight of of ten. Thank you for reading my review.
