Question of the day: What VILLAIN could redeem themselves and make a good HERO?
Why not old Harvey Dent?
Or how about this chap?
and why not this guy, he's got diplomatic immunity!
Baron Helmut Zemo for 1 ah...that Stane kid could be redeemed even though he did some messed up stuff, also I kind of like the idea of Cyborg Superman as a good guy for some reason I know what your thinking "but he destroyed Coast City" well hey who knows maybe it's possible to redeem him maybe it isn't.

In Batman #651 we see Poison Ivy once again trying to make the world a better world.
I guess over the years writers have made of her a simple bank robber or just another psychopath in Gotham’s streets, and everybody seem to forget her goals, even her. I mean what was she doing in the freaking Legion of Doom? Did Lex promise her a better world for plants when he rule the world?
Poison Ivy was, I think, suppose to do crimes with a greater purpose. She wants to change the world! To make it a better place.
She told batman she wanted “to do the right thing” – in this issue – Batman just responds her she was doing it in the wrong way.
If only she learned to include humans in her new-world vision. Maybe she could gain little mental stability. She could continue to be crazy and use her very dark/sarcastic humor; she just had to stop killing humans for fun. Then maybe she could start of by looking up for lonely girls like she use to be, protect them from guys like her old professor. Maybe became an Earth protector, or better yet she could learn to respect both plant and animal live, and became a truly visionary of a better world for plants and humans, a live protector.
Anyway I think it would be very cool because if she gain conscience, she would be one of those heroes with a lot of demons in the past, a hero with a really dark past, wouldn’t that be cool?
C'mon, The Quizmaster was a hero in the anti-matter universe; and he's gone straight on Earth-1...
Highlights from the list. Some of these folks have been redeemed in the past, but were "un-redeemed" for whatever reason...
For Marvel:
Typhoid Mary
Proteus
Ultron
Super Adaptoid
For DC:
Kid Amazo
Floronic Man
Solomon Grundy
5. If you read Norse mythology, then you know about Fenrir (Garm)'s story. I know that Marvel didn't follow the myth to the letter. But in legend, the big bad wolf was treated either has threat or a weapon by the people who are suppose to care for him. When he was reborn, like the rest of the Asgardians, he should be raised by a decent kid who cares for him, despite becoming a giant raveous wolf-monster.
4. Lion-Mane was just a guy who was turned into a snarly savge lion...man. He's destined to continue clash with Hawkman in each recarination, and his humanity is dramaically called into question. It would be a welcome change of pace of him being a hero.
3. Talon: I'm going on a limb and guess that Owlman is abusive with his sidekick, even have some 'certain' rumors about their relationships being true. But after coming here, he learns to become a decent hero who is cared and love by others.
2. Bass.exe: Even though he has the right to hate humans, I just see Bass killing random people. Besides, he keeps on being beaten by Megaman and Lan by their teamwork and still doesn't get how they keep on beating him. He should team up with Sean as his NetOp.
1. Magneto: Seriously, he lost his powers, lived life as human, lost the love of his kids and friends, let's him STAY good this time.

Whiplash
Ox
Tatterdemalion
Peepers
Eel
Porcipine
They should have there own team: The Misfits

Magneto has been one of Marvel's and one of the X-Men's greatest villians for a long time. We've seen him consistently trying to create Utopia for Mutant kind, which in his mind, is what would be best for them. His backstory, the persecution at being Jewish, let Erik to grow up and hate mankind from an early age. In his own mind, he is doing the right thing by wishing to give "Man" their comeuppance. By being a member of another minority, namely a Mutant, he sees the persecution all over again. It's just as violent and it's just as rampant as the Natzi enforced termination of the Jews was.
Erik's plans all revolve around putting Mutants first. It is in this motivation that one has to wonder just how truly "evil" he really is? Is he willing to take whatever steps necessary? Yes, he is. But I have to say, look at what he was fighting for. Look at the ideas he had for Mutants? Now sure, in his mind, he never saw Man and Mutant living happily ever after together on the same planet. This was the fundamental difference between he and Professor Xavier. Xavier wanted peaceful coexistance, but Erik knew it probably wasn't possible.
Having said this, Erik is what I like to term the "sympathetic Villian". He isn't supremely evil for evil's sake. He has a goal in mind and he isn't afraid to bend the rules, take risks, and pretty much kick anyone's behind he needs to to bring about said goal. Having been stripped of his powers, having lost his family's love and respect by pushing things to the limits has offered us, the readers, a unique view into what makes a "Villian" a villian and just how close they really are to being heroes. It's all in a matter of choices and Erik's made questionable ones all for the sake of Utopia.
Allowing him to at last see the error of his dogged determination and pushing away all those who care and love him, I believe it would have a profund impact on him not only as a man, but as a villian as well. He could use his skills, his love for his fellow man, and the burning sense of justice that he wishes to see in humanity to become one of the greatest heroes. His compassion and his resourcefulness would afford him a true insight into the motives of a hero. And while he may never be straight-laced, there's no question he would stand for what he believed in until the very last and he would never back down from a challenge.
First: Light Yagami. If this kid could just get his morals straight then he'd be an awesome detective.
Second: Balmunk the Mistic. Ok so you haven't heard of this guy unless you've read Zombie Powder but still. With his abilities (which in some cases seem almost random) he could be a great hero. Once again just get the morals straight.
Third: Kaname Tosen. He has strong morals and a kinda cool zanpakuto. I'm sometimes confused as to why he joined the rebellion against the Soul Society. He claims he seeks the path of least blood shed.
2. Dr. Doom - Okay. I admit, the world domination schtic is kind of cliche when it comes to villains. Besides his natural hate for Reed Richards, he could actually make a good hero. He's a genius for fuck sake. He's powerful, he has his own damn army of Doombots and he's second when it comes to Magic.
Metallo is an option, Given the fact that he's a machine, and a soulless one ever since the neron deal, he could be reprogrammed, or at least given blocks to make him adhere to asimov's laws. Another Option for Metallo's redemption is the whole "Mechanical Evolution" theme that constantly permeates science fiction. Mr Freeze is another, being a tragic villain, and thus, fairly redeemable, especially if some part of his crimes kept him from accessing cryokinesis or something.
Now...HYDRA Prime 001 may currently possess the mind of a rabid animal but if you could gather up a bunch of telepaths and put him through a series of intensive telepathic therapy sessions his rehabilitation might lead to him becoming a defender of Earth's people...which means he'd be unstoppable and no force in the Universe would be able to stand against him.
Not only that but with HYDRA Prime 001 around the superheroes can take a nice long and relaxing break from that whole saving the world business while our Skrull protector eats Doctor Doom's entrails, rips Vulcan in half and sucks out his bodily fluids and then turns on Joe Quesada for what he did to Spidey's Marriage!!! Go HYDRA Prime 001!!!
It would be a good time.
Priest by day, Crimefighter by night! Or vice versa. :)
