Blish hailed from the planet Graxos V and received the power ring after the legendary Green Lantern Fentara, father of Arisia, who died at the hands of Legion during the events of the first Emerald Dawn.

Blish would later meet Hal Jordan when the earthman rescued Blish from an ambush staged by the renegade Lantern Sinestro.

Sinestro set his trap at the intersection of sector 2814 and 2815. When Jordan discovered the trap he rescued Blish at the expense of letting Sinestro escape.

Blish was initially upset with the earthman's decision, as the customs of Graxos V valued justice over mercy.

Blish was later believed to have been one of the many Lanterns that died in the invasion of Qward during the Oan / Qwardian Power War. Blish's power ring would later choose his predecessor's daughter Arisia of Graxos IV as its next owner.
