    Bleez

Character » Bleez appears in 194 issues.

A native of the planet Havania, Bleez had a nearly ideal life, except that she had to contend with a number of unwanted suitors when all she wanted was a peaceful life of freedom. One of these suitors was a Sinestro Corpsman, and he killed her mother and tried to enslave her. A red power ring came to her then, and she killed him and became a Red Lantern. As he did with all his lanterns though, Atrocitus robbed Bleez of her intelligence. She has since regained it though, and now peruses her own ends.

    Free as a bird

On her home planet, Havania, Bleez had a mostly happy, if sheltered life. She enjoyed flying through the skies and time by herself to enjoy the natural beauty of her planet's skies and forests. Although she did have to endure her mother's repeated and unwanted attempts to find a suitor for her that she would accept and marry, Bleez always turned those suitors down in favor of keeping her freedom.

    New Earth - Bleez

After a member of the Sinestro Corps kidnapped her and murdered her mother. On the space station where he took her, he made unwanted advances on her, and, when she again refused him, he tore off her wings. When the station was attacked (or had mechanical trouble, it was never made clear which), Bleez took the opportunity to escape and fling herself into space, in an attempt to commit suicide rather than stay a slave. Her captor saved her, and she fought back against him to no effect (becasue of his yellow power ring, she had no real chance of harming him), but that's when her red lantern ring found her and she used it to kill him and escape.

Atrocitus, the leader and founder of the Red Lantern Corps however, had made it so that all Red Lanterns, save for himself, were governed by their rage, unable to see past it to think coherently. He did this so his followers would be easier to control and direct on his mission of vengeance against the Guardians of the Universe and their Green lantern Corps.

Post-Flashpoint, much of Bleez history from New Earth stay intact. After the War of the Green Lanterns, however, when Krona, the Guardian directly responsible for the destruction of Atrocitus's world, Atrocitus found himself floundering without clear direction, finally deciding that he would make it his mission to bring vengeance against those who were had been wronged throughout the galaxy. To do that, he decided he would need help, intelligent help, so he chose to restore the intelligence of one of his followers so that they could be his lieutenant. He chose Bleez.

Even before her intelligence was restored though, Atrocitus had mall suspicions that Bleez was working against him somehow, suspicions that he had dismissed as ridiculous, given her lack of intelligence. However, once restored to her right mind, Bleez slowly began to work against her former leader to eventually take control of the Red Lantern Corps for herself for a time. Atrocitus eventually took back control, but she continues to plot.

    Modern Age / New Earth:

    Atrocitus: The Second Prophacy

(in Red Lanterns #0 Nov 2012)

After murdering his former allies in the Five Inversions to build his Red Lantern power battery, Atrocitus uses what's left of their blood to call on a blood prophecy. In this prophecy, he sees Bleez and others who would later come to be members of his Red Lantern Corps.

    Bleez's original appearance

(told in Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps #2 Sept 2009 and Red Lanterns #3 Jan 2012)

Bleez's home planet is named Havania, it's located in space sector 33 and is widely known for it's beauty. Her people are avian by nature, possessing angel-like wings that allow them to fly through the heavens. Bleez had an aristocratic heritage and her beauty was great; becasue of this, and becasue of the constant (very unwanted) attempts by her mother to find her a husband, Bleez was sought after by many suitors from numerous solar systems. Despite this, Bleez was more than disinterested in any suitor who knew of her since she felt that they only wanted her for her famed beauty, her title and station, and/or her family's wealth. As a result, Bleez refused to see anyone who came to pursue her, although this was much to her mother's displeasure, who longed for a grandchild to continue their family's legacy. However, when a tall and powerful suitor ventured to Havania during the course of the Sinestro Corps War, he killed Bleez's mother and took Bleez captive, making her a slave on the sentient city, Ranx, which was used both as a base and training ground for Sinestro's soldiers. Bleez was gang-raped on Ranx by the Sinestro Corpsmen, and her so-called suitor and he soon permanently disabled her wings as punishment for her arrogance over those who could not fly.

While aboard Ranx during the battle against the Green Lantern Corps above Mogo, Bleez attempted to commit suicide when she jumped out into space through a hole in the side of Ranx, preferring death over a life of slavery. However, her captor would not allow her to die so easily and forced Bleez to kiss him, claiming he wanted "more" from her before he would let her go. Bleez's rage filled heart summoned a red power ring to her location, making her the Red Lantern of Sector 33. After her transformation, she unleashed her rage upon her captor, killing the Sinistro Corps member of Sector 465. Because of her boundless rage at her captor and the Sinestro Corps in general, Bleez became a member of the Red Lantern Corps and joined the rest of her newly formed Corps who were gathered on Ysmault, after their leader Atrocitus rallied them together.

(in Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns #1 and Green Lantern #36-38 Dec 2008-Mar 2009)

After her arrival on Ysmault, Atrocitus helped many to embrace their ring, including Bleez. Atrocitus talked her through accepting the ring, reminding her of all she had suffered and how she desired vengeance. When Atrocitus led a raid against both the Green Lanterns and Sinestro Corps to retrieve Sinestro himself, Bleez was among the Lanterns present.

Bleez helped her corps in the kidnapping of Sinestro, facing both Green Lanterns and Sinestros in the process. When they returned to the planet Ysmault with their prey, Bleez watched alongside the rest of her fellow Corpsmen as they crucified Sinestro in front of the red power battery. Seeing the object of her hatred, Bleez's rage was almost uncontrollable. She, along with other members of her corps, launched themselves at him only to be beaten back by Atrocitus. She watched with the others as Atrocitus completed his blood ritual to find out Sinestro's secrets, waiting for her chance for revenge. She has also had a supporting role in many of the Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps crossovers.

(in Green Lantern Corps #46 and Blackest Night #7-8 April-May 2010)

During Blackest Night, Bleez fought with members of her Red Lantern Corps and the other Corps against the threat of Nekron and his Black Lantern Corps. She fought to defend Earth against encroaching Black Lanterns in orbit above the planet, and she fought against the Anti-Monitor at the Black Lantern power battery.

    The Last Will

Bleez protecting Gardner from Warth's cleansing
Bleez protecting Gardner from Warth's cleansing

(in Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors #1-7 Oct 2010-June 2011)

Atrocitus made a mysterious bargain with Green Lanterns Ganthet and Guy Gardner, to be allies against an oncoming threat. To that end, Gardner, along with fellow Green Lanterns Arisia Rrab and Kilowog, set off on a mission into the unknown sectors (a region of space that had never been patrolled or protected by the Green lantern Corps). Atrocitus sent Bleez to accompany them on their mission.

She first encountered her new team on Odym, where Gardner was attempting to get one of the Blue Lanterns, Warth, to remove the traces of rage left within him from when he wore a Red Lantern power ring during Blackest Night. Bleez stopped the process by interrupting the cleansing and cleansing to Garner, telling him, as best she could, that he must not go through with what he was doing.

This lead to a fight between her and the three Green Lanterns. The fight ended when Warth used his energy to saturate Bleez's throat so she could speak her true mind through her rage. She told them that Garner would need the strength of his rage in the coming battle. Garner and the others reluctantly agreed to her terms and the four of them left Odym together, despite Warth's warning that Gardner's choice could very well lead to his eventual death.

After her experience on Odym, Bleez seemed to retain some of her restored intelligence for a time, though it would slowly fade away again as Warth's influence gradually lost hold in the face of her rage. leaving Odym, Bleez, Gardner, Arisia, and Kilowog went to Daxam in search of the recently returned Sodam Yat. During this, she would tempt both Gardner and Rrab towards embracing the rage she sensed in their hearts.

Following their visit to Daxam, the four of them would travel onto the unknown sectors, on the trial of a dangerous element called Rakkonium that could be used to make weapons of mass destruction that could focus and direct the energy that was being stolen from the Green Lantern Corps somehow. They followed the trail to a mining world where slaves were being treated extremely harshly. They freed the slaves and questioned the slave owners about where they would send their shipments. During this, Bleez very nearly tempted Garner into killing the slave masters himself. Instead, Gardner decided to leave them to the mercy (or lack there of) of their former slaves.

Bleez killing the mercenaries around Kralok

Following the trail deeper into the Unknown Sectors, Bleez's party encountered a group of 9 mind controlled Green Lantern rookies. They fought them and, after they won and seemingly freed the Green Lanterns from the mind control, a voice spoke through them and made them kill themselves.

That was when Garner coughed up a lot of blood and the blood conveyed a message to them from Atrocitus about Krona's activities on Earth. This meant that Arisia Rrab and Kilowog learned of Garner and Ganthet's bargain with Atrocitus. It caused an argument, and the party split, with Bleez the only one staying with Gardner as they continued to follow the trail.

When they arrived at Kralok, the planet where the Rakkonium had been shipped, it was surrounded by a ring heavily armed mercenaries. Bleez killed them all from a distance with a knife made from her own blood that she fired and directed like a high-speed guided missile. None of them even saw their deaths coming.

They ventured down to the planet's surface and found the source of the trouble in the form of a man named Zardor, a telepath who was enslaving and cloning other telepaths to further his vendetta against the Guardians of the Universe. Zardor attacked them from behind and they lost, actually getting swallowed by these big snakes he kept as pets or something.

They ended up escaping when Garner crashed his snake into hers and they kissed, giving Garner a boost of rage power to help them break free. She and Garner split up, and Bleez ended up getting blind-sided by a mind control Sodam Yat (who had his Daxamite Superman level powers and the added power of all the stolen Green lantern energy).

Zardor and Yat escaped, with her unconscious. Bleez never appeared in War of the Green Lanterns, and it's unknown how she managed to escape Zardor and Yat.

    The New Guardians

Bleez leading Yrra, Arkillo, and Munk after Rayner
Bleez leading Yrra, Arkillo, and Munk after Rayner

(in The New 52's Green Lantern: The New Guardians #1-4 Nov 2011-Feb 2012)

The red power ring was mysteriously stolen from a member of the Red Lantern Corps, resulting in the death of the one who'd born the ring. Bleez came to Earth to confront the ring robber (though it was never stated how she came to learn of it, or if she came on her own behest or was under orders from Atrocitus).

She followed the ring's trail to Kyle Rayner. Rings from all the other Corps were also attracted to Rayner, and Bleez comes into conflict with Yrra Cynril of the Star Sapphires, Saint Walker of the Blue Lanterns, Arkillo of the Sinestro Corps, Munk of the Indigo Tribe, and Glomulus a construct/slave of Larfleeze the Orange Lantern. They fight, and Rayner flees Earth with Saint Walker, heading towards Oa to ask Ganthet and the Guardians of the Universe for help.

Bleez forms a temporary truce with Yrra, Arkillo, and Munk and goes after them. Rayner was having a confrontation with the Guardians himself, when Bleez and her team crashed in, Bleez leading the charge and shouting "Burn, Blue Men, Burnn!". Their attack failed though, and the Guardians defeated all of them, that is until Larfleeze and his captive Guardian Sayd arrived and freed them, putting the other Guardians on the defensive.

From there, they traveled to Okaara to face Larfleeze. While there, however, they began to quarrel and Saint Walker threatened to use his blue power ring to free Bleez of her rage. Upon hearing this, Bleez became scared and fled the planet, returning to Ysmault, the Red Lantern home-world (where her full intelligence would soon be returned to her).

Bleez questioning Rayner about his fugitive status

(in The New 52's Green Lantern: The New Guardians #5-12 and Blue Beetle #9 Mar-Oct 2012)

After regaining her intelligence (shown in both New Guardians #5 and Red Lanterns #3), Bleez returns to finish what she started with Rayner and the others. She tracks them down to The Orrery, where she comes to Yrra, Munk, Arkillo, Rayner, Walker, and Glomulus's aid in their initial battle with Invictus, the long lost last Archangel of the Vega System. During the fight, Invictus destroys Glomulus.

They are able to convince Invictus that they share a common enemy in Larfleeze, and he lets them go on the condition that they go and defeat Larfleeze for him. From there, they leave The Orrery and go their separate ways to prepare for the coming battle. Bleez escorts Rayner back to Earth so that he can retrieve his power battery and recharge. She goes along to protect him in case the Guardians of the Universe send someone after him (as he is now a fugitive from them).

On Earth, a mercenary sent by the Guardians does indeed attack them, and Bleez saves Rayner from him. They also come into conflict with Blue Beetle, who sought out Rayner for help, but ended up attacking him because of his suit's influence. Bleez again helped Rayner against Blue Beetle. Bleez then parts ways with Rayner once he's got his battery and is safe. She returns to Ysmault to further her plans against Atrocitus.

    Bleez vs. Munk
    Bleez vs. Munk

When the New Guardians are ready to make their attack on Larfleeze, Rayner asks Munk to use his teleport ability to bring Bleez back to them. Bleez attacks Munk for pulling her away without permission, but lets it go once Rayner explains the reason for it.

They attack Larfleeze and get him on the ropes, when Sayd intervenes and confesses that she was the one who sent the rings to Rayner, not Larfleeze or Invictus, in a plan to help Ganthet, whom she loves, be free of the other Guardians of the Universe who had brainwashed him. They make peace with Larfleeze and Invictus attacks. They end up defeating him, but in the end go their separate ways because of Sayd's confession.

Bleez returns to Ysmault to confront Atrocitus.

    Higher Consciousness

Bleez after emerging from the Blood Ocean, her full intelligence (and the pain of her past) restored

(in The New 52's Red Lanterns #1-6 Nov 2011-Apr 2012)

On Ysmault, Atrocitus has been loosing focus and drive after the death of Krona. Bleez, even with her intelligence over-showed by her rage, senses this and plants seeds of unrest amongst her fellow Red Lanterns. When Atrocitus leaves Ysmault to find his purpose again, and when he returns, having decided to use his Red Lantern Corps to avenge those wronged and victimized throughout the universe, he's decided that he'll need a intelligent second in command to carry out his plans. He chooses Bleez and throws her into the Blood Ocean, where she relives all her pain and fights her way back to herself once again.

It is a painful ordeal for her, and when she emerges, she blames Atrocitus for putting her through that torturous experience. Atrocitus seeks to appease her and win her loyalty by revealing that two of her former suitors, spurred by her rejection of them, actually put that Sinestro Corpsman who killed her mother and tried to enslave her up to it out of petty revenge.

Bleez spitting on her mother's grave
Bleez spitting on her mother's grave

Bleez returns to her home-world, Havania, intent on avenging herself on them. First though, she asks to visit her mother's grave, where, unbeknownst to Atrocitus, she spits on her mother's grave, blaming her for her fate becasue she kept insisting on bringing all those unwanted suitors to her, even though she had no interest in them. If her mother had simply let her live her life without insisting she marry, what happened with the Sinestro Corpsman would never have come to past.

After that, she, with Atrocitus still accompanying her, goes to seek out the two men he told her of. She decapitates one right away, but tells the other that she'll let him live for now. That he won't know when she'll come back to finish him off, intending that to be a punishment. Atrocitus kills him though, dissatisfied with Bleez's choice. Bleez blames Atrocitus for this too, for denying her her just vengeance, simply becasue he disapproved of her chosen method.

Once they return to Ysmault, Bleez feigns loyalty to Atrocitus, but secretly begins to move against him. First tricking him into imparting intelligence to three other Red Lantern Corps members, then fanning his paranoia about Krona still being alive. Finally, she provokes Atrocitus into attacking her in full view of the other Corps members, and they (or most of them at any rate) in turn come to her aid and reject Atrocitus as their leader, choosing Bleez instead.

    Love and Hate

    (in The New 52's Red Lanterns #7-12 May-Oct 2012)

After the events of Higher Consciousness, Bleez has taken the leadership of most of the Red lantern Corps for herself (although a smaller number stayed on Ysmault, loyal to Atrocitus).

Bleez lead her followers out into the stars, where they searched out and found a number of former Sinestro Corps members and tortured them to a degree before putting them to death. From there, Bleez lead her people in liberating a planet who had been enslaved and badly brutalized, again, putting to death the perpetrators.

    Bleez captured by Yrra
    Bleez captured by Yrra

She was drawn back to Ysmault though when the Red Lantern central battery was attacked and infected with a terminal sickness by the discarded first attempts Atrocitus made at forming his Red Lantern Corps (they were discarded by him becasue they showed compassion and empathy). On Ysmault, Bleez questions Atrocitus about what occurred, asking who was behind the attack. He doesn't know, and Bleez puts forward her guess that the Star Sapphire Corps are behind it. She accuses Atrocitus of incompetence in letting this happen. He tells her to go after the Star Sapphires then, that he will seek out his failed creation by himself.

Bleez and the whole Red Lantern Corps then travel to Zamaron. They attack, but, weakened as they are by their dying central battery, they fall before the Star Sapphires and are captured relatively easily.

Bleez is chained by her former teammate, Yrra Cynril. Yrra tells her that neither the Zamarons nor the Star Sapphire Corps were responsible for the attack on their battery. With a death sentence hanging over their heads once the battery dies, as a Red Lantern's heart is replaced by their power battery and they will die without it. She offers to save her from the rage in her heart, to save her life, by converting her, and the other female members of her Corps, into Star Sapphires.

Yrra offering Bleez a place among the Star Sapphire Corps
Yrra offering Bleez a place among the Star Sapphire Corps

Yrra encases them both in a sapphire crystal to try to bring out the love in Bleez's heart, and Bleez very nearly succumbs to Yrra's temptation, but in the end she breaks free and rejects Yrra's offer, saying that the men who perused and brutalized her in her past called what they did love, and she had no interest in that. Bleez, in turn, attempts to tempt Yrra into embracing her rage, likewise unsuccessfully. Yrra renews her offer, showing Bleez a Star Sapphire ring that could be hers if she would only accept it. Bleez says no, and takes her Red Lanterns and leaves, threatening to kill anyone who follows.

Atrocitus, meanwhile, ignites a new Red Lantern power battery with a back-up plan he'd held in reserve and not told Bleez or any of his former followers of he first formed his corps. With a new central power battery ignited, Bleez and her followers do not die after all.

    Rise of the Third Army

Bleez and Atrocitus vs. The Third Army

(in The New 52's Red Lanterns #13-16 Dec 2012-Mar 2013)

With the new Red Lantern central power battery still weak after it's creation, Bleez joins forces with Atrocitus again, seeing the wisdom of sticking together in a time of tribulation.

On Ysmault, they both hear a powerful cry for vengeance from a heart full of rage, and they go to follow it to it's source, planet Arhtky in Sector 2967. They arrive and dispense brutal and lethal punishment to the guilty, but, while they are doing so, the Third Army attacks.

One of their Corps, Skorch, is killed. Bleez and the others destroy the Third Army soldier that are left, after they find out that their weakness is their eyes. They return to Ysmault, and Atrocitus says they will need help and a more powerful battery to defeat this new enemy the Guardians of the Universe have sent against them, against the universe entire. He says he will go to Ryut and resurrect the Manhunters there to use as their synthetic army, and asks the others to split up into teams and search out the blood of the guilty to power up their new battery.

Bleez goes to Earth with Rankorr, the new Red Lantern (who's from Earth).

    Wrath of the First Lantern

Bleez surprising Rankorr and his date
Bleez surprising Rankorr and his date

    (in The New 52's Red Lanterns #16-20 Mar-July 2013)

On Earth, Bleez accompanies Rankorr to find the man who killed his grandfather and precipitated the events which lead to him being chosen as a Red Lantern. She tries to be friendly with him, mostly.

Rankorr wants to go see his brother first though, so they make a side trip. He and his brother never got along, and the visit only serves to get Rankorr angry, which Bleez approves of.

Next, they find the man who killed his grandfather. Rankorr is squeamish about following through, so Bleez cuts the man open and spits red blood into him, so he'll suffer horribly for as long as he lives. Saying to Rankorr that maybe he'd prefer that punishment to just killing him?

Rankorr watches the man's pain in horror and throws a knife shaped energy construct at him, intent on killing him to end his suffering. It worked, but not before manifesting an image of Rankorr's grandfather that spoke things fueled by his own guilt.

Bleez tries to comfort him, says they can be friends. Then asks to have some of his blood so she'll be able to make energy constructs too. (Most Red Lanterns can't do that, Rankorr was the first, and, so far, only one who can.) Rankorr turns her down, and isn't too nice about it. She tells him he's making quite a mistake, making an enemy of her. He flies off anyway.

Rankorr goes off, disguises himself as a regular human guy and meets a woman, saving her from this abusive guy who won't take no for an answer. They date, and he's about to confess he's a Red Lantern when Bleez takes that moment to interrupt them and cause her to leave, feeling betrayed.

Bleez and Rankorr leaving Earth to kill Atrocitus
Bleez and Rankorr leaving Earth to kill Atrocitus

They're about to fight, when they both get a call on their rings from Atrocitus, declaring himself a criminal and giving a 'sacred order' to all Red Lanterns to kill him becasue he's decided (becasue the First Lantern's offered him a chance to undo the massacre of Sector 666, in exchange for a high personal cost, and he turned the offer down) that he's responsible for the massacre of Sector 666 and must be killed.

Bleez and Rankorr leave Earth together, their dispute set aside.Though Rankorr accuses Bleez of being too happy about this turn of events. She tells him that vengeance is what being a Red Lantern is all about. That he'd understand that if he were a true Red Lantern. That it was their time to have vengeance against Atrocitus.

They arrive where Atrocitus is in time to see the rest of the Red Lantern Corps already attacking Atrocitus with everything they have. He's not resisting, but isn't dying either. They both join in, but still, Atrocitus won't die. Instead, he begins to absorb their rage, feel the pain that led them all to become Red Lanterns in the first place.

He starts to fight back, saying the old Atrocitus is dead and he's a new Atrocitus, one dedicated to seeking vengeance for others, not only himself as he had been before.

The others backed off and stopped trying to kill him, Bleez fallowing suit. He seemed to took leadership of the Corps again and lead them and the Manhunters he'd taken control of off into battle against the First Lantern, Volthoom.

Bleez fought alongside her Corps and others, and the battle was won. All the Guardians of the Universe were killed by Sinestro, except one (or so he said, unbeknownst to others, he did let Ganthet and Sayd live as well) whom he gave to Atrocitus to deal with.

    Bleez vs. The 4 Inversions
    Bleez vs. The 4 Inversions

While he hunted the Guardian down for sport, he told Bleez and the other lanterns they could do as they will. Bleez and the others returned home to Ysmault, where they are confronted by the resurrected 4 Inversions whom Atrocitus had killed to make the Red Lantern corps first central battery. The Inversions attack, and all save Bleez are cowed, falling back and taking damage from their dark spells. Bleez sees through them though, and is able to take them on single-handedly and drive them off the planet.

Following that, the other Red Lanterns are so impressed, they say she should be their leader and not Atrocitus. Bleez demurs however, though she takes the opportunity to taunt Rankorr that perhaps he should try to be the next red king?

Bleez is again offered leadership of the Red Lantern corps by her fellow Red Lanterns
Bleez is again offered leadership of the Red Lantern corps by her fellow Red Lanterns

She never says as much, but one could logically assume that she declined the offer of leadership because of what happened when they'd all tried to kill Atrocitus before and couldn't, even when he at first did not try to fight back. The man is billions of years old, has lots of ancient dark magic in him, and apparently has a very strong connection to the rage power they all draw from that lets him absorb their energy blasts to power himself, so apparently he is very, very hard to kill, particularly by other Red Lanterns. So, Bleez would naturally have seen that and said to herself, alright, it's obvious Atrocitus could beat me, beat all of us in a fight, so if he wants to be leader, there's not much I can do. And so she wisely would have decided to bide her time until an opportunity could be found with a better chance of success.

    The King Is Red

(in The New 52's Red Lanterns #21-24 and Green Lantern Annual #2 Aug-Dec 2013)

Atrocitus discovered a listening device planted inside one of his Red Lanterns and killed the lantern it was in. The device was planted there by the Guardians of the Universe to spy on them (before the Guardians recent deaths). He says they should got to war against the Green Lanterns because of it, and because they're vulnerable now, and Bleez backs him up on the idea.

A bit later, Hal Jordan (now the leader of the Green Lanterns) sends Guy Gardner to join the Red Lanterns as a spy. He shows up, tries to get Atrocitus to trust him, Atrocitus doesn't believe him for a second, they fight, and Gardner kills him and takes his ring for his own (one could assume that since he was using a green ring, there was no rage energy for him to absorb like what happened with other Red Lanterns tried to kill him). Dex-Starr runs away with his body.

    Bleez vs. Rankorr
    Bleez vs. Rankorr

Gardner is non-intelligent though after putting on the red ring, without being immersed in the blood ocean, and there's a debate about what should be done, and who should lead. Bleez tries to rally the others behind her, saying that Gardner is a weapon and they should keep him dumb so they can point him wherever they want. Rankorr, whom she's had an adversarial relationship with ever since what happened on Earth, goes behind her back and puts Gardner in the ocean.

When Gardner wakes, his intelligence restored, he proposes that they don't need a leader, that they can just do whatever any of them wants, and if there's a decision that needs to be made, they can just vote on it. Bleez actually isn't all that against that idea, especially when Gardner puts it to a vote to get a nicer place for them all to live.

They capture a pirate space ship and take it as a home. It's a really nice ship with lots of luxuries and such. Later though, Bleez overhears Gardner reporting back to Jordan and asking to be extracted. She threatens to tell the others what she's heard unless he follows her lead, but Gardner doesn't back down. He threatens her and tells her if she wants to fight him, he'll accept the challenge, or if she goes to the others, he'll just lie and say she's the spy not him.

Gardner goes to the others and confesses anyway though, trying to spin it to his advantage, saying he wants to be a Red Lantern now becasue Jordan abandoned him with them. We never find out if he would have been successful swaying the others though, becasue that's when Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps show up and ask for their help. Bleez shouts "KILL THEM!" and there's a battle. Jordan manages to convince Gardner that there's a bigger threat to deal with out there named Relic. Gardner negotiates and gets Jordan to cede the space sector with Earth in it to the Red Lanterns as their own to protect in exchange for their help. Bleez isn't particularly happy about having to fight another battle for the Green Lanterns, but likes the idea of having their own territory well enough, so she goes along. They all go and battle Relic, winning out in the end and receiving the prize Gardner negotiated for them.

    Personal Information

    Bleez hanging out
    Bleez hanging out

    Real Name: Bleez

Title: Princess of the house of Havania, aristocrat, noblewomen

Occupation: Adventurer, Stormtrooper (She works for Atrocitus as a red lantern)

    Status: Supervillain, sometimes antihero

    Place of origin: Havania

    Height: 5 feet 8 inches

    Weight: 137 pounds

    Eyes: Hazel

    Hair: Jet-Black

    Marital Status: Single

Bleez is extremely beautiful. In fact, her beauty was the fault of her downfall. As someone from a royal family, Bleez did not have anything to do but fly with her beautiful wings. Many men from the galaxy wanted to marry her because of her beauty and her sense of independence. She has two big angel-like wings, long black hair, silver skin tone that sparkles under the sun. Overall she looks out of this world. However, after becoming a red lantern, her beautiful wings are replaced with just bones as a reminder of what were once there.

    Powers and Abilities

    Red Lantern Power Ring

Bleez is a bearer of the Red Lantern Ring and has all the powers that come with it. The abilities the ring grants him are:

    • Acid: She has the ability to expel a fiery acid from her mouth.
    • Animating: A Red Lantern can will things to move how he wants.
    • Caustic Effect: Red Lantern power can damage and drain away the power of other lanterns almost like a poison. For example green lanterns who survive a Red Lantern attack will begin to lose power from the almost napalm like attacks of Red Lanterns.
    • Communicator: The ring can act as a personal communicator between Lanterns.
    • Costumes: The wearer of the ring may create any costume they choose, based on their personal preferences, whenever they choose. The ring projects the costume over any clothes already worn at the time. While Red Lanterns have no costume code they all are red and black with the Red Lantern symbol displayed.
    • Energy Projection: The rings can also project beams, form protective bubbles and force fields, and fire destructive blasts. The attacks often come from the mouth from a Red Lantern.
    • Energy Constructs: The rings can construct anything the wearer can imagine from hard-light energy, as long as they are willing to make it. The more determined the wearer is, the more complex and intricate these things can be. The constructs can even be so complex as to form working machines, computers, and even people. Red Lanterns have difficulty creating constructs due to their anger.
    • Flight: The ring allows the wearer to fly in atmosphere or in space, and can achieve incredible speeds, moving from planet to planet in a matter of hours.
    • Heart Replacement: Red Lantern Rings replace the heart of the lantern who wields them so removing a Red Lantern ring is often fatal without medical attention or the presence of a Blue Lantern. Atrocitus had his heart ripped from his body and was able to return to the fight within seconds since his ring serves as his heart.
    • Mirages: The Ring can create mirages/illusions.
    • Recharging: The rings need to be recharged by means of a Power Battery. Other large sources of power may be used to recharge a power ring, however effectiveness may vary. The internal power source of a Manhunter Android is, in effect, the same as a power battery, and can be used to recharge a power ring. During the JLA / Avengers crossover, a Cosmic Cube was used to recharge a depleted ring, although this is not an ideal solution and is available if there are no other options.
    • Ring Duplication: Each ring can duplicate itself, creating a second ring which may be given to another as a backup, for protection, or to help the lantern in times of great need. This duplicate ring is exactly like a normal ring.
    • Temperature Control: The Ring can increase or decrease the temperature of anything, even something as large as stars, or even create bubbles of intense heat or cold, even down to Absolute Zero.
    • Electro-magnetic scanning: The ring can allow(through the use of x rays) the user to see through walls, without the people on the other side knowing. it can also scan along the Electromagnetic spectrum.
    • Wormhole/Warps: The ring can open wormholes to cut down on distance.

    Leadership

Bleez came from a life of luxury before being kidnapped and thus had few useful skills, however these would be arbitrary anyway as only Atrocitus, among all Red Lanterns, retains the ability to control his rage sufficiently that he is in control of his actions. Nonetheless, Bleez has proven herself a tenacious foe by surviving many dangerous events, slaughtering a not-insignificant number of Green Lanterns and Sinestro Corps members alike. Despite her royal upbringing instilling in her a sense of superiority, she has nonetheless demonstrated that she has some leadership skills as she has been successful in getting others to follow her. In Green Lantern: New Guardians #13, a Red Lantern claims that "Bleez will skin us alive if we're late!", suggesting that Bleez is not exactly gentle in her treatment of followers.

    Strong Mind

She has also shown an extremely high resistance to telepathy. The villain of the first arc of Emerald Warriors, who had been telepathically dominating entire squads of Green Lanterns, openly admitted that the rage clouding Bleez's mind made her too difficult to control. Whether this is a trait shared by all Red Lanterns, or experienced only by Bleez, is yet to be seen.

    Pinpoint Accuracy

Whether it is a natural Havanian ability, or one given to her by her power ring, Bleez shows a sort of spacial awareness that allowed her to throw a single hard-light construct (a dagger), around an entire planet, driving it with perfect accuracy through the head of each of the planet's perimeter guards.

    Flight

In her natural unmodified form, Bleez had the power of winged flight. Since being held captive her wings have been rendered useless (seemingly severed), but after becoming a member of the Red Lantern Corps she developed other abilities. She has also been shown to use her wings (or the bone remnants of them) in combat, whether by wrapping them around an opponent in hand-to-hand, or by flying low to and using their intense, acidic heat to sever opponents' legs.
