I was thinking... If Marvel ever decide to reboot the Blade franchise, who do you think they should cast as Blade? also, do you believe that Wesley Snipes has ruined Blade for future actors? because in my mind Wesley Snipes was the epitome of Blade. what are your thoughts.

P.S. should Blade be British(like in the comics) or American?

I can't think of one off the top of my head, but it's possible.

I hope Marvel reboots it... as long as they maintain the R rating. Just like how a Ghost Rider movie should be R.

if they reboot it, it can't be as good as the first two movies were. they would turn everything in bloodless twilight bullshit instead of r rated.

Michael J White could pull it off if he is picked. But to be honest, I'd rather see him as BP.

@jedixman: To be honest, I think Blade has had a lot of pretty bad character designs. I like the one I referenced, but they just need to make him bald instead of the double mohawk.

@dragonborn_ct: yes i do. look at all the marvel movies and comics recently, they are bloodless and made for family entertainment, not for us grown up comic readers. just look at the cover for age of ultron, where wolvi stabs wolvie, no blood at all at the blades, for example.

and besides, look at dredd, it was a perfect cbm, it was true to it roots an very violent. marvel/disney would never take such a risk. they will make blade a family friendly, one liner shouting kiddy actionhero.

@darklydreamingdeadpool: It doesn't necessarily needs to be developed under Disney. The Marvel Knights studio is there for a R-Rated movie as Punisher War Zone happily and (bloodily) shows.

@dragonborn_ct: yes it did and war zone was one hell of a movie. stevenson was the perfect ennis-punisher and the movie kept the spirit and over the top violence of the comics perfectly, but it wasn't a success, unfortunenatly.

@darklydreamingdeadpool: The sad truth is you don't get as much money with a R-rated movie than you would with PG-13. Even so Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance was developed by the same studio, I am not sure if that movie would have been better if it was R-Rated either...

@dragonborn_ct: ugh, i doubt that spirit of vengeance could have been a succes at all. this movie was alomst as bad as iron man 3...... i really liked the first part (i know it wasn't a sequel), but spirit of vengeance was really disappointiong. though it had it's moments.

Also R Rating System is bullcrap, movie quallity has nothing to do with rating system.

Movie quality can be impeded by rating system. Most movies try to get the pg-13 rating so all the teenagers can go watch. Just look at all the horror movies that suck because they can't scare people with pg-13 rating or the action movies that could have been great if there was more violence and nudity.

That is not always the case. A R Rated movie that doesn't hold back anything can still be a piece of crap, case in point A Good Day to Die Hard specially after so much sh*t people gave about Die Hard 4.0 being PG-13, they took mostly everything back when the fifth movie came around.

Agreed Wesley was perfect as Blade, filling his shoes will be a tough job imo.

That was why J Horror got so damn popular some years ago and American Remakes failed.

One Missed Call being the biggest failure in doing this.

I never said gore and stuff made horror movies. I never even mentioned it in my post. My point was that many movies get heavily edited because they want to be able to reach that pg-13 rating and thus reach every audience age possible. A movie doesn't need to be rated R to be good, but there are some movies out there that would have been better if they were.

As for Japanese and Korean horror movies, they are good because they know how to scare people, irregardless of rating. But many of those same horror movies would have been R-rated in American Cinema anyways.

The Blade films are good but they aren't Blade films, there Wesley Snipes killing vampire films

@omgomgwtfwtf: Some would be, but Blade and Superheroes are not in that list, Deadpool and Blade would work well in PG 13 if the director know how to make jokes and move in the holes.

Also i saw Die Hard 4 and 5 Pg13 cut and R Rated one, both of them sucked.

Also some of the J Horror movie got pg 13 rating, besides the rating system is biased in favor of american movies, high budget and some directors.

There is smart ways to dodge censorship, saddly people often ignores learning this tricks or getting in the system holes, in the past many directors move in the holes.

The Joker magic trick was pg13 because Nolan dodge showing you blood, you saw a guy being killed in front of the camera and was pg13 because he move in the holes as muchs as he can.

Snipes was a perfect casting choice for the Blade films. I dont know of any black martial artists who have the acting skills besides MJW. I'd prefer someone who has the fighting skills and athleticism to take the role if Snipes doesnt return to it. Blade is portrayed as more stoic in the films anyway

I don't think Chiwetel Ejiofor has the right physique for the role, great actor though.
