He wore yellow and blue and for some reason was called Blackie.
He and the Lynx share a first appearance where in practically the first panel it's indicated the Lynx saved him from a flood and decided he'd make good sidekick material, swearing him in on the spot.
When the Lynx's mostly nude costume was revised, Blackie lost his mask and presumably most of his mystery.
He seemed a decent hand to hand combatant, favoring head-butting enemies in the stomach.
