Revelations and the Greatest Lantern
First off, wow. In Blackest Night #7 Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis stepped their game up.
The issue starts with Nekron belittling the Guardians about preserving life but not living it. There's an incredible page showing the Lantern Corps "leaders" and the deputized lanterns trying to fight Nekron to no avail. Scarecrow and Luthor bring some great moments in this book as well. References from secret origin make their way into the book, specifically between Atrocitus and Black Hand. I don't want to spoil much because this issue was really good, but I will tell you that someone looses their ring in the first half of this issue. Back up does finally arrive in an amazing spread, of course everything doesn't go as planned when some of the Corps start attacking each other, before their respected "leaders" tell them to unite as one. As all of them struggle with working together, the lanterns actually on earth have a new problem involving Nekron and releasing something. On top of this Ganthet tells Hal Jordan something that both potentially can shock the reader, and enrages Sinestro. After this there is a major shift that some could call predictable and others call it good writing. I'm leaning towards good writing. If you haven't gotten this issue I don't know what you're thinking, go get it. More than one aspect of the DCU could change with revelations revealed in this issue and with the last issue on the horizon Blackest Night looks like it's almost over.
