When I think of Black Widow, I alwayshave the image of a black woman in my mind. Maybe it's the name. However, I like the idea of a black Natasha. A tall woman with an athletic physique, slightly muscular and with merciless strength. I think, especially the Avengers could use more color. I have nothing against a white Black Widow, but somehow it does not fit. Black women are known for their athletic body proportions. It would be much more realistic if a strong woman looks strong. Moreover, even the exotic plays a role: a colored face with make-up and a warm pervasive view fits better to a femal agent who will draw everyone's attention. Here some pictures:

Anyway, I think there was another woman in the Black Widow role, and she was blonde I think. It seems possible that a black woman could take on the name and role, but I don't think they would change Natashas skin colour.

@zardu: Well I think they'll probably stick with her being white now that it's been established. If they wanted to add some diversity, there are black Avengers who could be brought in, Black Panther, Monica Rambeau, Falcon, etc.

That's all subject to opinion. Either way, she isn't just attractive, if you've read any Black Widow before, you'll know that she's an intelligent and extremely capable spy and combatant.

That's true. I haven't read any of her solo material, but I know from Avengers issues that she can be useful.

@jonny_anonymous: She could have been born and raised in Russia. And because she does not look like a Russian, she had the perfect disguise to spy unobtrusively in America. By the way: the russian boogeyman is a bit worn.

I don't know about a Black Russian, but The Dude will have a White Russian.

Well based on comics' tendency to name characters of African lineage with the precursor "Black", does that mean she'd become Black Black Widow? Or Black*2 Widow?

Check out Winter Soldier, Brubaker's run of Cap during Bucky, and Ellis' Secret Avengers - she's fantastic in both, they really made me like the character.
