    WIDOW'S PEAK (Black Widow #1) 7

I never read anything significant that involved Natasha Romanova before. From what I've read, she was always associated with the Avengers, and I really didn't care much about her. I had the same perception about Hawkeye until I started read Matt Fraction's Hawkguy. Now, Clint Barton is one of my favorite character! This is also a good sign that great things are ahead for Natasha in 2014! Writers can make or break characters, and Nathan Edmondson did a great job writing the character of Black Wid...

Black Widow Arrives In Style! 2

The review was originally posted on my blog.Just earlier this week I was listening to Kelly Thompson’s podcast with Sue from DC Women Kickin’ Ass where they talked about gender parity at Marvel and DC, both in terms of the characters and the creators. And a point was raised that Marvel has done less than DC, or that DC is currently just better with it. The podcast was released just after NYCC last year, and some of the news that came out at the time was about Marvel’s All-New Marvel NOW! initiat...

Forgive Me S.H.I.E.L.D., For I Have Sinned 1

Hallelujah, I thought this comic would never come! As one who is an avid supporter of female protagonists in the comic world, I couldn't be more thrilled that the ginger Avenger has once again returned to the spotlight. Edmondson and Noto's talents work harmoniously together in this first issue and give us a seamless introduction to former KGB assassin Natasha Romanov, who's attempting to reconcile her dark past.We see immediately that Natasha is coping with a side of herself that she'd rather ...

    Black Widow #1 Review 5

Nathan Edmondson did an excellent job of taking this Avenger and putting her back into the environment that she's best suited to. I enjoy seeing Black Widow as an Avengers but as she doesn't really get used properly it's fitting that she's got her own ongoing series again. Edmondson handled the espionage part of this series perfectly, adding great tone and atmosphere. It was also nice to see Widow try to atone for her past sins, as it adding a bit more humanism to the story. On top of this I lov...

The Fiercest Marvel Female At Her Finest 0

I'll admit, I was somewhat skeptical of this series when it was first announced. It seemed to simply cater to those looking for another female centric book, and though that isn't bad, when it's done for the sake of having one, it usually doesn;t end well (look at The Fiercest Warriors for proof). Well, this single issue proved me completely wrong. Like, entirely. It's smart, fun, and, though the tone is on the darker side, it is never depressing, treading along the line of introspective and thou...
