The Grim Reaper of the DC Universe. When it is your time to pass, the implacable Black Racer will be there in the end to guide your soul. Edit
From the time of the immemorial, it has been the task of The Black Racer to collect the souls of fallen gods from the battlefield. Throughout that time, the identity of The Black Racer has changed. Currently, The Black Racer has a civilian identity of Willie Walker.
Willie Walker was a war veteran, who during the Vietnam War, was injured and paralyzed. Once back in America, he was a witness to a murder done by a crook named "Sugar Man." Sugar Man was going to kill Willie, even though he couldn't say anything, but Willie's despair summoned The Black Racer, who could hear his thoughts, who saved Willie and passed his power on to him. The power of The Black Racer freed Willie from paralysis, but only when he became Black Racer. Now Willie is The Black Racer, and when it is time for him to hunt his quarry, and he knows when it is time and who his quarry is, he can become The Black Racer, relentless and unshakable in his purpose!
Powers- The Black Racer's most famous, or infamous, power is his touch. With a touch, a mere touch, he can end the life of even gods. Charred husks of great stars are left in his passing, as he is the bringer of death. However, in addition to that tremendous power, The Black Racer possesses powers that too are used to hunt his quarry. He possesses speed such that he could effortlessly keep up with Lightry going top speed, playing with him. And his agility is great enough that he could leap over a fiery holocaust sent at him by Lightray at the speed of light with ease. And when Lightray created a sun to try and stop The Racer, The Black Racer went right through it unscathed. He always knows when a god is near death, and he always knows where that god is. He can appear wherever the dying god is in an instant, as sometimes speed is unsuitable. His healing powers cured Willie Walker of his paralysis, and his telepathy enabled him to hear Willie's thoughts of despair. He flies on skies, and can traverse space. He can chase quarry without an effort, never tiring, never stopping, an unshakable, relentless force.
Weaknesses-Despite all the power of The Black Racer, he must still bow to the will of destiny, as many times it has changed his course, always taking him where he is needed.
Death of the New Gods
Infinity-Man was the one that killed Black Racer in the first issue of eight-part Death of the New Gods mini-series. Infinity-Man killed the hero by tearing his heart out. One of the Forever People named Serifan was seen leaving the room after Willie's death.
