Babs Reviews Black Panther #2...It's "Unbelievable"
How many "unbelievables" are there?
Nice review Babs. I'm also curious as to Morlon's involvement in this series. However I don't believe the last panel is about bringing Morlon to Wakanda. I think its the Alter or Resurrection. It was used before to bring Killmonger (Black Panther's arch foe) back to life once before. It may be what Shuri's mother was referring to when she tells Storm there is one final hope to bring BP back. But that its so dangerous that she dare not speak of it in front of the others. She seemed really shady in this issue to me. I'd keep an eye on her.
I have to say I disagree. The last panel talks about how weak Wakanda is. They refer to it as a "broken gazelle" and how they should "take advantage of this opportunity." By bringing Morlon into the equation, they would utilize him to further weaken the infrastructure of Wakanda. And what does Morlun have to do with her, anyway? Are you saying that she would kill her own son?
As for T'Challa's mother, I really think she's just concerned for the safety of her country and I don't think she agrees with Storm's decision.
That's a possibility. The symbol on the floor somewhat reminds me of Killmonger's battle helmet is why I was thinking its the Alter of Resurrection. Plus that would explain what BP's mother was talking about, something so dangerous she didnt want to mention it in front of the others. But that's speculation on my part. Morlon seems an odd fit for this story. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
And I'm not saying she wants to kill her own son. I'm just saying she seemed a lil shady throughout the whole issue. Everthing Storm said she kinda balked at or questioned. I dont think she'd do anything to hurt her son. But hurting Storm on the other hand......
I'm loathe to admit it, but I'm reading BP and I don't hate it. I'm interested to see what's going on with the Lion Totem. Not sure if it's related to Killmonger (I don't think I'd like that because we recently saw Killmonger and I want something new, also, Killmonger's connection seems to be with leopards) or not. It would be cool to see if there was a Lion god/cult waiting for the opportunity to bring up its own servant (like BP is for the Panther god). Dunno where Morlun fits in other than he kills totems and could be a challenge for the new BP and or this hypothetical Lion.
Morlun is in this series? But spidy killed him!!!! (DAMN YOU OMD!!!) I'm so getting this series now cause Morlun is awesome.
Loved it aswell, also love the fact that its booming now, and just a couple of months ago they were gonna drop it completely.
Now, one scene kind of interested me, when "the incident" happened, there was a whole pannel with doom standing alone and making a face
Morlun showing up is a BAD sign. Last he fought Spider-man (although this probably is'nt in continuity), he ate Spider-Man's eye.
Ok T'challa dipped and didn't tell anyone not even Storm............ I know who the next Black Panther is T'challa havin an affair with some chick on the side and has a daughter and Namor found out and showed uo to try and black mail him with it LOL j/k although the unknown daughter thing may be possible
The Panther god chose T'Challa to be the Black Panther. He couldn't be it without its approval so he definitely got the power of the panther totem willingly. However Morlun prefers to only hunt the real deal because only the real deals extend his life span for thousands of year although he will eat the others but Black Panther to me seems more like either a fake or someone who stole the power but more like a fake since the heart herb had nothing to do with a Panther directly if I'm correct."
"Midnightist said:Ok then I was never that into Black Panther so I didn't know but then Morlun would really want to hunt him cause not only is he the real deal then he would also be pure (Spider-man wasn't pure cause of the radiation)The Panther god chose T'Challa to be the Black Panther. "Morlun is in this series? But spidy killed him!!!! (DAMN YOU OMD!!!) I'm so getting this series now cause Morlun is awesome."That's the problem is we don't know what has happened and what hasn't in OMD/BND. Quesada has said that pretty much everything has happened but obviously it couldn't have. Maybe they'll address it, maybe not.
I bet Doom made a deal with that other tribe so they can resurrect Morlun, that way Morlun can go after T'Challa and eat him. Then with T'Challa out of the way and The Panther God having been consumed by Morlun there will be NOTHING to protect Wakanda from Doom (Wakandan Technology won't save them once T'Challa and The Panther God have gone bye-bye and Storm...even she can't hold a candle to DOOM!) and thus Wakanda becomes an extension of Latveria and all of its people are forced into eternal slavery...because that's just how it works with Doom. I would buy the title...but since I've already got so many others to follow I think I'll just keep enjoying more of Babs' reviews.
I'm not sure if Doom's behind Morlun's arrival or not. I kinda get the feeling that someone else is calling the shots. Someone who has yet to reveal themselves. Most likely Norman Osborn. But I think Buckshot is dead on as to why Morlun is appearing in the next issue. The whole "feeds of totems" aspect.
Thanks everyone.
Yeah like I mentioned before, Morlun feeds off of animal energy (totems). I don't think I was specific when I said the word totem, however....
that was what I meant. I'm thinking that the last page where we see the tribe discussing how weak the BP is and how they should strike will be responsible for bringing Morlun into the equation.
T'Challa is having an affair (what else can explain the leaving the country without telling his wife/anyone?). =]
<---Isn't reading the book so comes up with weird explanations for what she heard Babs say.
LMFAO
T'challa has concubines! And Storm knows about them.... >.>
No but seriously, I think that its strange. It would have most likely been deactivated before he even left the country! Then again we do have that scene of Doom stepping off the ship after he turned off the autopilot and the guns right before he blasts T'Challa...
"Why is this book even running anymore? Why do they continue to give Hudlin rope to hang himself? This will fail, just like the one before it."http://www.comicvine.com/forums/comic-book-preview/1988/new-black-panther-sells-out-new-printing-coming/384349/
"Do i have to bring up the things Doctor Doom said under his pen?"So because of the way he wrote a certain character's dialog that makes the man himself a bigot?
"Do i have to bring up the things Doctor Doom said under his pen?"Bigot is too strong of a word. Ignorant: Yes. Hell yes. But a bigot? No.
"Yeah. But does Hudlin know that?"I'm sure that the $$$$$$$$$$ that comes in as a result of him writing for it makes it obvious for him on a regular basis.

Anyway, great review Babs. I cant wait to see what happens next issue.
