    The Good

The cover was a big improvement over the last, illustrating a battle between Morlun and Shuri.

The art and color courtesy of Ken Lashley and Paul Mounts respectively are still top notch and give the book a distinctive feel.

The defeat of Morlun was a bit predictable but still satisfactory given the magnitude of the threat and the need to save both the king and queen’s life. Shuri and the love of S&T were the main highlights along with the knowledge of the magician/voodoo priest Zawaviri. He is surprisingly insightful and perceptive despite being called a “nut”. The payment for this boon to the royals is touched on, clearly there must be something he wants after all these years living literally on the ‘fringes’ of the technologically advanced Wakanda.

Shuri and Ramonda finally get the closure they need to the constant approval the latter has wanted. This issue also ties in directly into Hudlin’s opening arc “who is the black panther” from volume three where Shuri’s skill was shown before she was pinned down and thus prevented from assuming the panther mantle. It all comes full circle here with her dream finally realized but her nation at it’s lowest.

    The Bad

I’m not a fan of a clean and tidy resolution to conflicts like this it always makes the conflict which lead to them seem so hollow when the villain just gets defeated quick and neat. No one who died was noteworthy enough to make the Morlun situation memorable.

Shuri and everyone else came off as dumb not figuring out what Zawaviri had to explain with Shuri becoming the black panther thus why Morlun abandoned T’challa and took chase of her.

T’challa is now a cast member in a book that used to be his own

    The Ugly

A step back after a great buildup 3/5

New Black Panther's Storyline End is Satisfactory 0

Despite the issues in the New Black Panther being annoyingly short, the new series is fun, with good emphasis on the two unique factors that makes BP one of the best heroes around--being a monarch of a realistic African nation, and being a God-appointed leader in every sense of the world.  With T'Challah in a coma and the Dori Mijore dead, Princess Shuri (BP's sister) is entertaining as her own feisty personality provides a unique spin on the BP persona.    For anyone who hasn't read the ot...

A hero willing to sacrifice themselves is one of the better moves of character development that is common within comics, and while it is a plot device that doesn't usually actually bear any actual burden (as heroes rarely die, and even those that do don't stay dead) it is still pretty effective. This issue succeeds in part of that as a back drop, but the story ends up being woven together fairly strongly at the end as well as the two groups of heroes finally find their way together. The resol...
