Black Lightning
Black Lightning is a comic book character that first appeared in Black Lightning #1
Jefferson Pierce, a teacher and Olympic medal-winning decathlete, used to wear a special suit and electronic power belt to control his electrical powers, the suit and belt are no longer needed.
Jefferson Pierce was a gold medal winning decathlete, after he won, he returned to his old neighborhood in suicide slum (south side) of the city of Metropolis, with his wife Lynn Stewart and his daughter Anissa to become the principal of Garfield High School. South side as it was once known was where his father, renowned journalist Alvin Pierce, had been murdered. Guilt over this event was a factor in Jeff's decision to leave the city of Metropolis. South side was being torn apart because of a organization called the 100, shady corporations, and crooked local politicians like Tobias Whale. Peter Gambi, a friend and tailor of Jeff, had taught a much younger Jeff how to control his inborn meta human powers, so that he would not accidentally kill or hurt someone. Upon Gambi's return he told Jeff that he should use his powers to stop crime in South side, he told Jeff a quote that Milo Sweetman said "Justice, like lightning should ever appear to some men hope, to other men fear". Jeff Pierce tried to intervene on behalf of school children, but learned fast that the 100 objected violently to any interference. A few years later, he would follow the African American super hero named Mister Terrific, and chose the name Black Lightning because he was one of the few around at the time, and wanted to make sure everyone knew who they were dealing with.
Other Media
On Batman Brave and the Bold a teenage Black Lightning appears as a member of the Outsiders. He at first appears as an enemy but soon changes sides to help a dying Wildcat. They later appear in a teaser to fight a simulated Despero. On Justice League Unlimited an electrokinetic named Juice is based on him.
Powers
Black Lighting has the ability to generate electricity by manipulating his bio-electric field. Black lighting can use his powers to stun or even kill by generating electric bolts using his bio electric field and can also use his powers to form shields,fly and disrupt and absorb electricity. Black lightning has Peak human conditioning and is a very good Marshal arts fighter he has been trained by Batman.
