After one of the Abbott's underlings broke his mental control, he sought to escape in one of the jet-crafts, but was pursued above the streets of New York by those still loyal to him. The man was rescued and taken to the hospital by the Human Torch. He Torch had gained information from the man he saved and headed to the headquarters, where Spider- Man had just arrived and began to search the place. After the Torch was captured, Spider-Man managed to break the Abbott's brainwashing on the hero.
A former sidekick to Captain America, Jack Monroe abandoned his mentor when he became disillusioned with the hero's lack of finite action against the super-villains they fought. He later became the notorious serial killer known as Scourge.
When U.S. Marine veteran Frank Castle's family's was murdered for witnessing a mob hit, the man vowed to avenge their deaths and became a one-man army in his personal war against the criminal underworld. With a distinct death's head skull adorning his chest, Frank Castle became the vigilante known as the Punisher.
Black Abbott was killed by Scourge.
Black Abbott was fought by Thor and Spider-man when Black Abbott appeared to show up at a hospital. Black Abbott attempted to control Thor's mind, but Spiderman prevented this, and Thor created a storm that neutralized the rest of the Black Abbott's minions.
