Birds of Prey #13
Manhunter fans rejoice! Marc Andreyko is writing the next two issues of Birds of Prey and Kate Spencer will be in it! Finally I've waited long enough to see her again I love her so much!!! OK SO Huntress is gonna work with Question to try and save Dinah, Dawn, Zinda, and Hank from that building where JUNIOR is. Apparantly Junior seems to be this thing everyone is like afraid of and no one can stop. So Junior wounds Dawn very badly and Dinah blasts her with her sonic cry but that doesn't stop Junior from slicing Dinah with her scissor! (I had to look up the correct spelling for scissor). Huntress and Q get close to saving the girls and guy but a guy with a helicopter starts shooting at them so Huntress had to take matters into her own and hands and stop him! Oracle figures out how to stop junior from Kord tower, she turns the lights on! (who'd think that would work?) Huntress makes it into the building and kicks Junior down the stairs. The issue ends with Oracle giving Huntress the role of field leader and Dinah is ok with passing on the title. Oracle now wants revenge!
The GOOD!
The action in this issue was very impressive. Especially the helicopter scene. My favorite part of this issue was Oracle giving Huntress field leader. I think Huntress is always looked down upon and that she can't be a leader because she's too ruthless but finally Oracle is giving her this trust to do this and I really like that. I also like how Gail Simone wrote Catman in this issue because she also writes the other series he's in so it shows she can use her characters comfortably.
The BAD!
I really don't see why everyone is so afraid of this Junior girl. She uses a scissor and she wears a bag on her head. She stopped fighting when the lights turned on so I thought her character was too glorified by fear in this issue. These two issues kind of felt confusing because I wasn't so sure about all the motives of these people in this building so I think that was kind of glossed over in this issue.
Art: yeah I didn't really like the art in this issue. It wasn't horrible but I just didn't like it. I think Huntress looked strange in this issue.
Verdict!
I'm indifferent about this issue. It was slap dab in the middle for me. So I say borrow it. 3 out of 5.
