Birds of Prey is BACK!!! with a big (good) bang 0

The Good Oh where do I begin? First off the issue starts off with a dramatic sequence that will have you drawn in hook, line, and sinker right off the bat. The art is KILLER. Ed Benes is on the top of his game. It’s not only him but the whole art team. They give the book a very well flowing, glossy and liquid, beautiful feel.   This book is by far the best looking book out of DC this week. Ends with a good cliffhanger, you want more after it’s over. And as usual with her work, Gail Simone puts...

The Birds are back in town! 2

Oracle re-assembles the Birds after having her hand forced by a mysterious villain.    What You Need To Know. The Birds of Prey have been out of commission for quite some time.  Recently Oracle has moved to the Batcave and monitored a new Batgirl.  Black Canary has recently left the Justice League.  Huntress continues to work within the Batman Family.   Fan Favorites Gail Simone and Ed Benes have returned for a new volume in the amazing series.    The Good.   The Story was beautifully written by...

    Return of the Birds 0

Not too much to explain as Gail Simone and Ed Benes return to "Birds of Prey" complete with shiny "Brightest Day" banner.THE GOOD: - A 24-page issue, but it felt like Simone really got a lot of mileage out of these pages. Establishing the players in the story, establishing the threat, and introducing a new villain. It's a really masterful display of what you can do in 24 pages. A very well-paced script with the usual Simone dialogue and wit. - Ed Benes came to play as well. Really strong book th...

Birds of Prey is back and some one with a new look 0

The cover for this issue was great. The story begins with black canary saving a little girl in iceland and Lady blackhawk helps with the escape. Oracle tells them that something has come up and she needs to see them right away. She also tells the same to huntress. We see dove and hawk fight a group called the sick cheerleaders. Dinah meets them at a bar and her and Dove have a little conversation. Oracle informs Dinah and Huntress that there is a person that has info on all the heroes and on the...

    No Cover Art Trickery 3

Let me just say, I love Ed Benes' art. Usually with a comic you get a beautiful cover from one artist and a different artist who actually drew the book. Not the case here. Benes draws the whole book and wonderfully at that.   On to the story. There were a few moments I didn't understand, mostly some of the bar scene with Hawk and Dove. It seems wherever they were, there was a little confusion. Other than that, it was solid. I like the direction and the interactions between the Birds. I also enjo...

The Birds and the Bees. And the Birds of Prey. 0

STORY  The birds are back in town. We start the story off with Dinah trying to save a little girl named Katy from this terrorist wannabe in Iceland. Things are looking pretty bad until Zinda shows up in a helicopter doing some collateral damage. Dinah whips into action by kicking their a$$e$. Katy is saved and makes headlining news in Iceland. Back in Gotham, Oracle is thinking about rejoining the girls. Hawk and Dove are fighting The Sick Cheerleaders. They win, but Hawk is not really himself...

The Brightest Day wave renews Birds of Prey 0

Gail Simone is back with the Birds of Prey Vol 2 as Brightest Day continues to hit DC comics.   Pros: The opening pages immediately draws me in. What I love about Black Canary is that her Canary cry isn't her only weapon in her arsenal. Her beauty and wit along with her martial arts makes her dangerous as well along with her friends.  The consistency of all the characters works really well. For 24 pages, there is a lot of room for all the characters including the new additions of Hawk and Dove. ...

"When Citizens are in trouble, they call heroes. When the heroes are in trouble, they call the Birds Of Prey."- Birds Of Prey Motto.  The team returns when the Birds are needed once more, to save all heroes! With Oracle once again leading the team, Huntress, Black Canary, and Lady Blackhawk will join again.   The Good The Birds once again return to soar the skies! The Girls are Back 0

Back about twelve years ago, when I was first really getting into things like comic books, James Bond, and other things teenage boys get into. J. Scott Campbell came out with a series called Danger Girl. It was ridiculously awesome. Gail Simone and Ed Benes channel Campbell and his team on this latest Birds of Prey series and it works to there advantage.   The story opens with Black Canary being super fierce and James Bondy in the Icelandic Tundra. this scene sets the stage perfectly for this ne...

Birds Of Prey - Endrun, Breaking Eggs! 0

The Main Members The Birds Of Prey Are Reborn! It's good to see (one of my) favorite teams making a comeback. The Birds aren't any kind of team, they are the team that saves the heroes from themselves! Now what kind of team would want to do that? These guys, Uh i mean Girls, will! Oracle, Huntress, Lady Black Hawk and Black Canary hit the streets once again, trying to stop someone from exposing their entire life! Don't call these girls wimps, because when you see them in action, you might w...
