BBatMoS # 18
I found myself liking this issue very much more than any other.
Which isn't really a surprise, if I remember that, consistently, this comic book has been improving and improving. I loved last issue, but this one got me back into the sensation of being reading that "classic old comic books" I read new as a kid.
I found the art better than any other times, but yet again, this isn't surprising. Actually, I liked it the most because I know this title is going to be cancelled soon.
:(
Captain Marvel was strong, smart and resourceful. Mary Marvel was delighful. The Mummy a good enemy (and yes, it seemed it took much elements from the story Sturdi brought us. Once again I wonder if this story has been reprinted elsewhere. I would REALLY love to have it.)
So, finally, we start seeing Mary Marvel's situation will be addressed, but seems like she's going to be affected by the "magic powder" of those terrible creatures she helped to destroy. (I really love the continuity issues between, ahem, issues. And that note on writers behalf remembering us a past issue... Wasn't that CLASSIC as well?)
Didn't liked at all that Mary's remark about "Wisdom of Solomon" to Cap, but, in truth, I should say that Cap's and Mary's characterization, has been consistent. So it's the same trouble as in the past. This was my only "but" to the story, that, on the other hand, featured a Fantasy Adventure that was great! These ARE The Marvels!
The issue left me, as usual, with an smile and the wish of having the next issue on my hands (or at least soon) to continue to read this Marvel of a comic book. This time it also left me sad.
Hopefully, this comic book will come back as hinted by Dan DiDio, and the very same team will also publish "Young Justice" and might include Captain Marvel in there also as well.
Amazingly enough, this cancellation is making me feel like when I was a kid and a toy I liked very much, all of a sudden, was lost or broken.
