    In the one-shot comic, Big Guy appeared to be only a robot, one programmed to save the world from various threats along with his partner, Rusty.

    In the cartoon show, Big Guy is a mech piloted by Lieutenant Dwayne Hunter because they had not yet perfected how to build thinking robots.
