    Yes she is very selfish, even when she obsesses over Edward and gives "everything" to him, she's still being selfish. But I wouldn't say she's the most selfish character ever... I'm sure there's others who can top her.

    Don't even go there.  This isn't a battle of the sexes, its about the character of Bella.   
     
    Personally, I find nothing to empathise or sympathise with her.  Nothing about Twilight appeals to me, especially not a plain girl who wants to be loved by undead & creatures of the night because she can't get a normal man ;p

    v_v I don't find her Selfish at all. I think Bella is trying to do what's best for everyone. HEr heart aches for Jake but she can't help but Love Edward. There's more to the story and a reason why Jake is so drawn to her. It's not her fault that the reason is more apart of her now then it will be later on.

    My daughters (who I took to see it, and therefore have to pay for it) have the right to form opinions of there own about the movie. I was just stating mine, and I think she is a dilusional, selfish person, who should pick a side, and a man.

    She already has. It isnt her fault Edward left her. HE wanted to protect her. But he can't protect her from herself. It's a complicated and twisted story line. But in the end everyone ends up happy.

    Oh she is very selfish, it was one of the main things I hated about the book, If you actaully look how she uses her "friends" and the others, they are only useful when she wants them to be and they are dumped again as soon as she is back with Edward, it's very ture that she love Edward, but she uses almost everyone of her friends bar the cullens and even to an extent the Cullens themselves are used later, when she forces the vote, She even ask Carlise to change her if Edward wont, knowing the pain it causes Carlise to make the choice between his "son" and bella and not only his own thoughts!

    Twilight is complex. When I first left the books I enjoyed the series. It was very interesting romantic novel and with a twist on the vampire myths before it. Bella was a likable character but she seemed to have fallen too quick for Edward and so hard. Which was very strange seeing that based on her character before she knew Edward she seem well grounded and not a person that would just become enamored with someone. I also thought her beauty became becoming so apparent when she moved to Forks was very strange as well. Yes, I think Bella was selfish at times but who isn't when you love someone so much you just want them so badly that all other factors seem to fade. Now, that the series has become over publicized and turn liking vampires into a cliche my feelings for this novel are drastically fading.

    well said honey! friends do flow into the background when you are first in love that is normal, but you always make time for them she does not.. she uses them and abuses them
