Astral Projections

Known Abilities--Skilled assassin and hand-to-hand combatant. Though the Benefactress gave Bella Donna the ability to project an unknown type of energy, she is also proficient with some type of magic, assumably voodoo. It may have been either the Benefactress or her mystical training in which she gained psionic powers; she has used these only once in the comics, in which she followed the X-Man Psylocke to the Astral Plane.

History

Her immediate family includes: Marius Boudreaux (father), Julien Boudreaux (brother), and Remy LeBeau (ex-husband.)

Bella Donna Boudreaux and Remy LeBeau met when they were children. Their fathers saw them as a way to stop the warring between the two Guilds (The Assassins Guild of which Bella Donna was a part and The Theives Guild of which Gambit was a part). After the wedding, Bella Donna's brother Julien challenged Remy to a duel. Remy won, and he was exiled from New Orleans. He then abandoned Bella Donna.

Bella Donna asked Gambit to help fight off the Brood attacking the Guilds. She used her psychic powers to follow Psylocke into the astral plane. She expended her energy, and collapsed in Gambit's arms. He thought her dead, and left for revenge against the Brood.

Bella Donna was merely in a coma. Gambit risked his life to bring her Candra's Elixir of Life. While she was catatonic Rogue touched her, and she woke up without any memory of who she was, or who Remy was.

Her memory slowly returned, but she felt as if her soul had been violated. She kidnapped Rogue to kill her and torture Gambit. But Rogue was not killed.

Bella Donna took on an assassin contract against Remy, but had no intention of killing him. She had it arranged so she could sort out her conflicting emotions had about him. He passed power of the Unified Guilds to her, and returned to the X-Men. She rules in his absence, and is still believed to be in love with him.

Or at least, it appeared that she had died. He had allowed the Guilds to take her body, and unbeknownst to him, she was kept in a half-dead state at her father's home. When Gambit discovered this, he risked a confrontation with Candra to get the Elixer of Life, which he felt sure could save Bella. It did- but while he had been away on this mission, Rogue had absorbed all of Bella's memories. Upon waking, she didn't know who he was, or anyone else.

This caused a great desire for revenge in her. She soon struck out full-force at Rogue, restoring the bonds with Candra for help (bonds whihc had been broken when Gambit stole the Elixir). She did not succeed, and Candra betrayed her. She was left still Guild leader, and has yet to be heard from again.
