Came for Minutemen, Stayed for Silk Spectre
I actually really enjoyed this comic book. Haven't read the others so can't rated the entire Before Watchmen, but these two are a looker. The Minutemen is the best of the two. Really good art and a good story. Love the fact they mentioned that Sally was Polish. I remember that from the origin comic, but it's rare you see it mentioned again. The Minuteman is just great because it takes you to the Gold Age and turns it upside down with reality of the times.
The Silk Spectre part was better then I thought too. Even though there isn't much to talk about with the Spectre, this comic showed you the human side to the daughter-mother relationship. I think my favorite part was just the talk between Laurie and her mother. It was also need to see the Watchman's universe take more on the hippie era. How it can all be about peace and love to stop what matters most to you.
As for the controversy to this comic book: ignore it. To me I have no problem with other writers and artists taking the Watchmen characters. It's cool too see how things will turn out. Like I said before, I can't tell you the full verdict on the Before Watchmen experience because I have not read the other issues. As for this one if you like the Minutemen and the Silk Spectres then get this and if you don't then don't bother. As for me I wanted to read these two comics the most, so I was glad they came together.
