Launched as a competitor to the long-running TV tie-in magazine Look-In, Polystyle's Beeb featured articles and comic strips based on BBC shows, both homegrown and imported from overseas. It lasted only 20 issues, starting on 29th January 1985 and with the final issue dated 11th June 1985. A few years later there would be another attempt at a BBC Junior Magazine, with the much more successful Fast Forward.
Strips in Beeb included Bananaman (a comic character from DC Thomson's Nutty, who at the time had been turned into a TV cartoon), The Family-Ness (based on a cartoon about a monster family living in Scotland's Loch Ness), Grange Hill (based on a popular and long-running show about a school of that name), One by One (adapting a show about a vet), The Tripods (a sci-fi strip based on the tv show itself based on John Christopher's SF novel trilogy), Hampster's Tales (an original humour strip seemingly poking fun at the TV adaptation of the Adrian Mole novels), and Automan (based on a short-lived US superhero series then airing in Britain).
