Battlestone is a comic book character that first appeared in Youngblood #0
Battlestone's Nu-Gene DNA gave him super human strength and endurance but it was until the Born Again Project that gave him a high injury and pain threshold.
John Stone was born with Nu-Gene positive DNA, which provided him with superhuman strength and endurance.
These traits combined with his military training in strategy and weapons made him one of the world's most formidable warriors.
John Stone began as a serviceman during World War II, and was recruited by the superteam called the Allies. They fought throughout Europe until the end of the war.
His first leadership role came when he took on the early Youngblood unit in the Persian Gulf War. However, little is known about his life during this time until he was shot and killed by the Cyberdata assassin, Dutch.
Not that this could stop him.
John was reanimated through the Born Again Project, which also imbued him with an extreme pain threshold and resistance to injury, making him almost invincible.
He again became a leader of Youngblood, but was dismissed after a botched mission that resulted in the death of a subordinate.
He then began a small mercenary band with Kayo, Boone and Lethal, and they carried out small missions here and there, until he approached the Barros brothers Coldsnap and Seahawk and formed a new team called Brigade.
Battlestone has remained with Brigade even when it meant fighting his own flesh and blood: both his brother Cabbot, who leads the government superteam Bloodstrike, and their power-mad father Quantum.
