Marvel did this for Cap recently. Normally I love excuses to take pot shots at DC but this is kosher.

Well, to be fair, Supes got like a billion variants from Superman Unchained.

I'm not a Batman fan but I think this is kinda hilarious, I understand it's Batman's 75th anniversary but it's like DC is trolling the Batman-haters.

The only one I have a problem with Batman on the cover is Grayson #1 but it's not that big of a deal.

Don't care. Batman is a cash cow. If I were running DC, I'd have Batman on the cover of every issue ever.

They usually have a character on all title covers for issue milestones.

DC has a little banner at the top of the cover that reads "THE DARK KNIGHT RISES" or "MAN OF STEEL" whenever one of their movies is out.

Marvel mainly does this for movies nowadays. Sometimes really well --- when the first Thor movie came out, 26 Marvel books had "Thor Goes Hollywood" variants that were awesome.

Man, I think that was actually my favorite variant gimmick that either Marvel or DC has done yet.

I think Deadpool hit the last milestone and they had him on all covers. Here he is doing the Gangam Style.

It would be nice if DC continued to do this.

JLA #1 sold a stupidly high number of copies because of the 52 variants gimmick.

@saren: Except my LCS DID have the Washington state one on the shelves. Most LCS' carried the variants from their respective states.

Never cared much about variants. If there's a cover by one of my favourite artists I might pick it up, but mostly likely pass on all of them.
