You know , besides cartoons, and movies.

Which Batman was a bad Batman in your opinion?

For example, I read that the Batman in "The Cult" was anything except a Batman

But then again, I just read that.

    Waiting for your answers.

In before someone says Justice League under Johns.

Earth One portrayed him terribly in the first issue.

I really don't like Batman Earth One, but All-Star Batman and Robin is the worst portrayal of the Dark Knight I have ever read. Hard to believe this is the same person that wrote Batman Year One and TDKR

All-Star Batman burned a bunch of criminals to death with molotov cocktails and then had sex with Black Canary on their corpses after it made her horny.

All-Star Batman & Robin, for all its flaws, is miles ahead of Batman: Earth One.

Frank Miller gave us THE GODDAMN BATMAN. Geoff Johns gave us Bat-Moron.

Miller can write subtlety and depth. Even the sex scene with Black Canary has subtle undertones of impotence tying into the overall portrayal of Batman. Geoff Johns can only write bombastic schlock, with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer to the head, and all the depth of a swimming pool for toddlers.

That, and I feel like some people have almost a knee-jerk hatred of the former, without looking more in-depth into it. I used to think the same of The Dark Knight Strikes Back, before I realized that it's a work of satire almost as brilliant as its predecessor.

I think most batman books are pretty awful versions of Batman, so I don't know. Only a few writers are able to make him seem smart and detective like.

The worst portrayals for me that I can think of off the top of my head would be:

    Earth One

    JL as written by Johns

    TDKSA

    ASBAR

    The Widening Gyre

    Cacophony

    It's not?

It's pretty much become a meme at this point. That's quite an achievement.

What did Earth One give us that's memorable? Or Widening Gyre?

I'm not saying it's not an accomplishment or not memorable. I'm just not a fan of "The Goddamn Batman." Chalk it up to hearing it more than most people should in reality.

The Dark Knight Strikes Again and All Star Batman and Robin.

It's a shame, because my favorites are Year One and the Dark Knight Returns.

@orangebat: thank you! Someone agrees with my view on TDKSA!

I love satire. Jonathan swift and chuck palahnuik etc etc. But as far as comics go that and TDKR are amazing. People just don't look at it from the right perspective.I really want to read All star batman and robin because I'm interested in that particular take on batmans personality.

Batman under Johns makes me facepalm sometimes. He managed to make what could have been an amazing momemt in Batman history with him wielding the yellow lantern ring.... then he gets completely stomped by power ring.
