Imagine that one of the Lanterns of Sector 2814 gets relocated to another Sector or maybe one of them just left Earth. So, one of the Green Lantern rings select Batman. Most of the other characters worry if Batman is gonna let all that power go to his head and corrupt him but he just sees this as an opportunity to help people a bit more. He goes to Oa, trains with the best, learns everything he can about The Guardian's science and technology, uses meditation and other methods to fully utilize the ring's power to it's fullest potential, studies every single thing he can from the ring's database and learns to use the rings power to create complicated, technological constructs and even manipulate matter and energy. He trains to do all of this for five years. So, how powerful and how effective a Lantern do you think Bruce would be at the end of those five years? Will he be able to take on the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel, by using the most powerful weapon in the Universe?
Batman
Character » Batman appears in 23535 issues.
Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
Will Bruce be the most skilled and most capable Green Lantern?
absolutely. With his mind, he strives to master his weapons and the ring wouldnt be any different. I would say he would be Sinestro
When he did have Superman's powers in Superman/Batman he became corrupt. Im not sure if he became that way because he had more power or if it was a side affect from the spell that granted him the powers
@DEGRAAF: I agree with you. With his mind he can master the ring. But, do you think he would be able to bring complete order in Gotham by being a Green Lantern?
Idk, i would say yes but Gotha has a way of rising up to the heroes and bringing on new villains as a challenge for him. Most likely if DC ever gave him a ring (which might as well be considered impossible) they would give his villains rings as well.
Scarecrow - Yellow Lantern
Two Face - Red Lantern/ Blue lantern (i know this is impossible but maybe his mind is so separated that it would work for him)
Joker - Anti-Green Lantern Corps
Penguin - Orange Lantern
Cat Woman - Sapphire Lantern Corps
Black Mask - Black Lantern
Hush - Indigo Tribe (only because all others were taken)
@DEGRAAF: I would love if they give Bruce a Green Ring. It would be an awesome storyline. I can imagine all of Bruce's friends and family worrying that getting a Power Ring may cause Bruce to lose his humanity and his training in Oa.

Batman would be able to be a Sinestro, but a Green Lantern? I don't think so. He's cynical, and as it was shown, Green Arrow has considerable difficulty using the ring because of that. I would say that Batman couldn't either.
Cynicism has never negatively effected his willpower, if anything its made him believe he must fight harder
@TDK_1997: Yeah, if Bruce is able to utilize the ring to it's fullest potential, he will become really powerful. Already he has done things even super-powered beings can't. Already he is incredibly dangerous. With that much power in his hands, he will outclass almost every other hero.
@Deadcool: Spiderman will be good as a Green Lantern, if he learns to master the ring. Imagine, green energy webbing. But, with batman's intelligence and skills, combined with the fact that if he learns to master the ring, use it to it's fullest potential, he would be one of the greatest Lanterns.
@Deadcool said:
Spider-man would be better =P
Note: For me Batman belongs to Sinestro corps...
Spiderman would be a better Blue Lantern I think. On second thought, he could be extremely powerful for both.
@Nerx: Okay. But, what do you think of Bruce as a Green Lantern? With his intelligence, skill and the fact that if he learns to master the ring to it's fullest potential.
@Adnan: The Yellow Ring has a corrupting influence on a wielder and even more so on anyone who doesn't have mastery over fear. Because ultimately, the fear projected by the ring's power overwhelms them. That is why Batman was able to fight off the ring's influence...because he has mastered fear.
Even Hal Jordan, when he wore the ring during 'War of The Green Lanterns', he was able to wield the ring without getting corrupted. But the ring was influencing him very slowly.
That is why you don't see a Sinestro Corps member as one of the good guys.
I am pretty sure the batman and GL fans know what they are saying, but I think with Bruce's indomitable will and strengthened mind, he could perform unseen feats, if he chooses to.

A Green Lantern is willpower, for Batman everything is about Fear, I can't think on him as a Green Lantern, but you are right, he should be great.

Blue is hope, in my opinion, Spider-man comics are about helping the people with a great amout of willpower, Spider-man doesn't give up, he would try to save anyone even if that kills him.
For me he is more like a Green Lantern or an Indigo.

Batman can be a good GL
He would never be corrupted by any of the other rings also.
@Jnr6Lil: The other rings don't really have a corrupting influence. Only the rings with 'negative' emotions like Fear, Avarice and Rage. And you are right, he will be the best GL.
@Adnan said:
I also feel a Yellow Ring would suit him better. Scarecrow should've kept his Yellow Ring, it was the coolest thing anyone's ever done with the character imo.
I think the green ring suits him better, but I couldn't agree more with the Scarecrow thing
@Nerx: Yeah. With that power, he can augment his tech to an incredible level. Imagine a dozen green Batplanes
@Deadcool: Yeah. And which Lantern Corps do you think the other characters like DareDevil, Punisher, Moon Knight and Cap should join?
The only reason Bruce Wayne isn't a GL is due to him being Batman. It makes no sense editorially. In-Universe, he would easily be the greatest GL. He has far, far more willpower, and better feats, than any of the GLC.
Also, for the GL "fans";
DO NOT READ GL VOLUME 4 AND THINK YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT WHEN IT COMES TO GREEN LANTERN.
Take Bruce and give him powers and it ruins the whole dynamic of working with what he's got, mainly the wit and grit. But that's just my opinion.
Wait... Johns writes things? I thought he just ejaculated on a page and hoped it formed letters.Would he be the greatest Green Lantern? Sure, unless Johns is writing it.
@Deadcool: I guess he has extremely strong will considering the enemies he's fought and with some he's fought to the death. An Indigo doesn't really make sense.
@FadeToBlackBolt: Yep, you're right. Anyway, I would love it if Bruce get's a ring and Dick continues to carry on the mantle of Batman. And knowing Bruce, he would obviously use the ring only if he has to and not always like the other Lanterns.

Isn't Indigo about help people?
I don't think so? In that sense, every hero would be an Indigo Lantern.

from which comic the pic?

@Deranged Midget: .... Then what is Indigo Tribe about?
Empathy. Compassion and Empathy. Sure they help people, but compassion is their light and having compassion isn't always helping the way conventionally thought of. If I see a man starving my compassion could lead me to giving him a sandwich or killing him then and there. After all it ends his prolonged suffering does it not? A single sandwich wouldn't do that. Compassion in and of itself isn't as clear cut as you'd think, but it depends more on whom is feeling said compassion.
Also I remember it being said that lights get more influencing the farther they go down the light spectrum either way. That's why green was the optimal light for the Green Lantern Corps usage. R O Y G B I V.
@Soulstealer: Besides, the green energy of will is the purest form of energy in the Emotional Spectrum

i thought the reason why he isnt a gl or part of the sinestro corps is bc he is afraid of the power. He thinks it is wrong or something for a human to have (this is just what i thought the reasoning was)

What is bigotry?
But that's true. Compassion is many things.
