Hmm, have you got an example? Can only remember him smiling while beating up people in All Star Batman & Robin. Sometimes he's shown to be kinda crazy and enjoy it, but mostly he seems to be pretty stern and focused to me.

@moneyshotz: batman doesnt smile when he's hurting the bad guys. any bad guys. well he may smile because hes thinking of something else but not because hes inflicting pain on someone.
