Some people wonder why, thus I will answer:

you know what happened to Kira from Death Note? then there is no need to explain more.

No, I don't.

I will explain then:

Yagami was an ordinary high school student (as well as a very gifted detective) until he acquired the power to kill people. At first, he wanted to kill all the criminals to make a safer world. He became a vigilante, and everybody, except the police, liked him. However, he gradually went nuts: he saw that every humans had flaws, so he wanted to destroy all those he fought don't deserve to live...he wanted to become a god, he even started to kill innocent ones or those who were on his way (like the police). From a self-righteous vigilante, he became a psychopathic serial killer even though at the beginning he only wanted to do good.

That's why, in my opinion, Batman shouldn't kill, or he'll end up the same

In the Killing Joke, the Joker permanently disables Barbara Gordon and tortures the Commisioner, to which Batman smacks the Joker so bad that he can walk around leisurely and share a corny joke with Batman, after Batman begs rationally with Joker to PLEASE get some mental help. Joker says hell no to the offer and Batman laughs at the joke.

God, what a monumental wimp Batman is. No wonder these villains have the balls to keep escaping. They know they can share a laugh with him while he escorts them to jail. And then they can easily escape while he's not looking.

Because killing means life is worthless, if life is worthless, there is no reason to save people.

It points to Ra's al ghul. The point of killing is that there is no choice. It put into the thought criminals cannot be redeem themselves or pay for his/her/its crimes and It also gives followers to take the death as an opportunity to walk his/her/its legacy.

Batman shouldn't kill people because of the very reason that he gives. The police are given the right to kill/imprison/etc by the people. It is a vested privilege of the police and should remain that way. To kill or imprison or anything like that would violate his belief that the system can work, and that justice should be upheld, and that people shouldn't act however they please when it harms others.

Batman has nothing against killing, but believes only those that have been granted the rights and duties to act in the name of the people, by the people, should do such things.
