people always fight over this and i want to know what you think. who would you rather be and why?
Batman
Character » Batman appears in 23630 issues.
Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
who would you rather be: Superman or Batman
Depends on the logistics. If I am stuck with Superman's brain... No....
I like Batman a lot more but whether I would want to be Batman... I mean, if I AM Superman, I can just meet Batman for Coffee...Hmmm...
Superman has the better powers. Batman may be richer but if you had the powers of superman, you can easily exploit it to make yourself a gazillion times richer than Batman and have even cooler toys if that's what you really want.
Personality wise I'd take Superman again. Batman acts like a person who hates himself so much that he doesn't get to enjoy his wonderful life that he has and because of that the people around him are always miserable.
Batman.
Even when I was a kid my answer to the "which superpower" question was always that I would much rather have Batman's intellect, skill and reasoning although the one superpower that would be tempting is flight.
@ultimatejones: Would it be in the DC universe? Or in our universe? Because if i choose Batman i would proberly be killed within the first week if it wasnt in a comic book universe.
Anyway... hm, to be Superman, that would be cool..... i like Bats better but its proberly funnier to be Superman.. exept again, if its not in the DC universe, you cant really be social, because if this was our own universe i would proberly kill everyone due to the fact that psychics actually matter in our universe, i could proberly not have sex, give hugs, shakes.. and how the hell do you pick stuff up without crushing everything, you know.... because of my super strenght.
Hm... let me ask, will i only get their powers or would be their character? If i would be the Bruce Wayne with the same training and the money, then him, i dont know if ill keep up my superhero identity though, i would if i existed within the DC universe, but if i was ''real'', then ill drop the cape and actually use some of my billions upon billions to actually make a difference in the society... some kind of larger than the already Wayne Foundation of sorts, and then just live as the rich, mega fit, charming playboy Bruce Wayne.
But if im not the character and just myself but with powers/training of one of the two, then ill proberly take Supermans, but first i would work on some kind of meditation so i could control my powers, i would proberly become a douche though and use the powers for my own advantage, i mean youre technically a god, it would be tough not to take a little advantage of that from time to time.
Oh and one last thing, does Batman/Supermans body follow with the deal? that would be pretty awesome, theyre both fit as shit.
Supes. You could literally touch the stars. LITERALLY. Walk on the surface of the sun. How poetic is that? You could live a lifetime in the spaces between seconds. You could subjugate humanity or bring it to peaks never seen before. Hell, you could find some other life form to subjugate or propagate.
I feel like there is literally a right answer and a wrong answer to this question. If you're Superman you get endless possibility and ultimate power. If you're batman you get a few billion in cash and dead parents. How do you get this wrong?
Basically this thread is asking what would you kill your parents for the most, superpowers or cash.... Hm I'll go for superpowers.
@rpgr You're saying you'd rather be a paranoid chronically depressed orphan, constantly raising bratty kids and having every woman you love cut your heart out than than the well adjusted happily married guy who comes from a loving home? Even if we're going on just personality seems to me being Superman is still the better choice. (Using pre-flashpoint characterizations)
@Onemoreposter: Yes actually, I would. Call me an intellectual elitist but being "well-adjusted" is not a good trade-off for being "ignorant". You can have all the power in the world but if you don't use it properly, what good is it? You just end up doing more harm than good (See George W. Bush). If you were Superman and you adhered to the same tropes and tenets as Clark, I would bet you would do more harm to the world than good.
Superman. Batman's life sucks. Also can you imagine flying? Or going light speed? Or knowing you are nearly invincible. Then look at Batman who is probably my favourite character and see how many times he has been shot or injured.
You mean would I rather be a cheery invulnerable superspeeding, freezebreathing, laser-shooting god or a grim, paranoid genius millionaire at the peak of human condition?
Even with all the psychological issues and traumas, I'd rather be Batman. And not just because he's the goddamn Batman. I just don't think I'd enjoy kryptonite condoms or spending my days afraid of sneezing and accidentally blowing someone's house down or brains out.
Batman, with superman you'd feel like you live in a world made of cardboard, constantly hold back, for fear of breaking something, or breaking someONE, at least with Batman you don't have to worry about breaking someone's spine if you hug them...plus, I'd be a billionaire.
Batman.
1) I cannot pull of red, blue and yellow.
2) There would be no challenge in being Superman.
3) I think it would be much more of an accomplishment to achieve what Batman has achieved.
4) I'm cynical as is.
5) I said I was Batman when I was drunk this one time, so I'm Batman. Nuff' said.
6) I'm also wearing a Dark Knight belt at the time of posting. So yeah.
Superman. Boom! Off the planet.
Or...destroy every nuclear weapon on the planet. Find a way to build a water purifier for most of Africa and places that need it. Build corn that can be harvested in extreme terrain. Then give it away to people that need it for free. Pretty much make sure people always have free health food and water. Get a healthier source of power. Then after that week is over, begin writing my novels. :D
So I love EVERYTHING better about Batman than superman. But in this world we got to be practical
Batman: Billionaire, can get any girl imaginable (and prolly guys too if he wanted), expert martial artist, peek physical condition
Superman: His powers would be far more useful in this world than in DC cause well, we don't have any technology capable of beating him, and no kryptonite :-).
I would live life like neither I think I would pick being Bruce but I won't lie being practically a God would be very nice.
