Who Would You Like To See Batman With?

Hi Everyone.

In this interview with Peter Tomasi, http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=43937 he says in regards to Batman & Robin, from #19 on, "The title of the series for the next several issues will change, the first being "Batman And Red Robin," the second being "Batman And Red Hood."

He also states that "There are five stages of grief, and we intend to explore it in a very visceral way."

This makes me think that after Red Robin and Red Hood, there might be three more "Batman And..." issues, one for each stage of grief. Or it could be that they do more.

What I'm wondering is, who would everyone like to see in these team up issues?

Scarlotte.

I'm really open to any "participation". What I don't want to see, is Bruce getting another apprentice for a while. For a long while. Otherwise, it'd be completely irrational, unless they have another thing in their mind, repeating history in a way (Damian+Lazarus Pit=Jason Todd II. Now, as a fanboy, I'd like a Batman/Huntress team up for a while, but I don't think it'll happen, since it doesn't fit well in New52.

If he doesn't get a new apprentice do you think this could lead to Batman & Robin being just a Batman team up series? Or would they just cancel it?

Why would Batman and Huntress not work?

I'm a bit upset about it, but I was also kind of just joking. I don't really care if it follows the comic cliche of characters coming back to life, but I want a return for Damian. I won't be following this book once Batman stops teaming up with his Bat-boys, because I really don't care about seeing "Batman and [insert random hero here]".

Most characters seem to turn up again eventually, but I'm kinda thinking he'll stay dead. Maybe Damian can only exist while Grant Morrison is a Batman writer.

I get the feeling Batgirl might get an issue along with the three Robins. What if they put in characters you really like?

I still wouldn't really care. I'm just not interested in reading a Brave and the Bold style comic.

Fair enough. I don't buy it at the moment, but I'll probably buy an issue if it includes a character I follow.

I'm just thinking, the five stages of grief are, Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance.

If there are to be five issues, Red Robin will be there for denial, and Red Hood will be there for anger.

Any guesses as to how these issues will go? And do these emotions give clues as to who could be there for bargaining, depression and acceptance?

Would you want him to still be Robin? Or to move on to a new identity?

That's interesting then. He was right about Superman/Batman, and Martian Manhunter got a back up feature, which I suppose could have been planned to be a solo series. That could well be the case.

@V_Scarlotte_Rose: He will definitely end up with a new Robin (or history repeats itself - Damian/Lazarus pit???). I don't want Bruce finding a Robin so soon, it'd be illogical. I'd love to see a Batman/Huntress team up, nevertheless, I don't think New 52 is interested in relating these two.

#20 Posted by TDK_1997 (9665 posts) - 2 months, 25 days ago - Show Bio

@V_Scarlotte_Rose: Well it doesn't matter who he is I just want him alive. But if he could stay Robin it would be perfect.

I agree, they should have a good long mourning period before bringing a new Robin in.

If I'm understanding correctly, I think currently Huntress is from Earth 2, but is now on the main Earth, and her father, Earth 2 Batman, is dead.

If that is the case, she's lost a father, and Batman has lost a child. This could be a way to bring them together, as a way of her sort of having her father back, and him having a child again, even if she is a bit older than Damian. She was Robin on Earth 2, maybe she could take up the role as Robin on the main Earth.

Just an idea. :)

I know Damian is Morrison's creation but I'm really mad he's killing him off :/. I'm not the biggest fan of Morrison's writing - I recognize that he has his merits, but his style is just not for me. But if there's one thing I definitely respect it's what he's done with Damian. And I've loved having Damian as a part of the DC universe. He's added such a unique new flavor to the Bat-family. I was hoping Morrison would leave Damian behind as his legacy when he left Batman. Definitely going to miss him :/. He's gotta be one of the best characters created in the last ten years.

#24 Posted by Phaedrusgr (1034 posts) - 2 months, 25 days ago - Show Bio

@V_Scarlotte_Rose: Actually, I like your idea. Yet, it seems to me they're not interested in "relating" these two in New52.

#25 Posted by V_Scarlotte_Rose (2070 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago - Show Bio

Has helpfully pointed out a link to me, so we now know who's in these issues. http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=44075

Peter Tomasi mentions the five stages of grief again, and as there are five issues, this must be what they're doing. So:

#19 — Batman and Red Robin - Denial

#20 — Batman and Red Hood - Anger

#21 — Batman and Batgirl - Bargaining

#22 — Batman and Catwoman - Depression

#23 — Batman and Nightwing - Acceptance

Any thoughts now that we know this?

I really think after the five stages of grief Batman and Robin should go on a hiatus or end. After that a new title can come out by the same author and artist involving various members of the Bat family working with Batman. I mean, getting another Robin anytime soon would just feel ridiculous.

I would like to see him with Helena but as Huntress, not Robin.

#27 Posted by V_Scarlotte_Rose (2070 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago - Show Bio

@gettogaara:That might have been a better idea if they'd just cancelled the series at #18. It seems like it'd be an odd idea to finish the series on the five stages of grief arc.

I honestly can't even guess how they can keep the series going. A new Robin coming in straight after would be too soon, and there aren't any more family members to team up with.

A Bat-Family series could be cool though.

The Worlds Finest cover having Batmans' shadow on it makes me think they might have some more contact soon, so maybe it'll become Batman And Huntress.

@V_Scarlotte_Rose: I'm thinking they choose to make him go through the five stages in Batman and Robin so that if they want to end the run it would be with his acceptance of it. If a new series just started out with him going through the stages, it might scare people away lol.

I agree though, I really don't know how they plan to keep Batman and Robin going. If they just plan on rotating his partner, for the next year or so it's not really an appropriate title. I would accept Batman and Huntress, so long as it's not immediate. I mean she is....sort of his kid after all.

#29 Posted by V_Scarlotte_Rose (2070 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago - Show Bio

@gettogaara:I suppose that makes sense. They could maybe have just ended it and done five stages of grief as a mini series though.
