I'm always gonna have to go for Bale, I feel he captured the three sides of Bruce Wayne the best, though he was far from perfect as Batman. He's also the only one that actually looked like he could kick someone's ass. Though I am biased because he's my fave actor regardless.
That said, I do love the others for nostalgic reasons, Keaton especially because i love his performance, and Adam West because he was the first Batman I ever saw. Kevin Conroy is amazing, but I don't count him because voice acting is a different set of skills.
I'm pretty sure most would say Conroy but for Live action although I think Keaton was more batman-esque Bale is my favorite, his performance was great.
Clearly the best Batman would be Conroy's voice + Bale's Performance...the best combination so far IMO.
I just watch Batman with Keaton again and man I love when he first shows up on the roof top and pick the dude up and holds him over the edge and says "I'm Batman" It still rocks, and if it was not for the Burton Batman movies we would not have TAS but I think Keaton was a great Batman for the Burton Flicks and Bale was a great Batman for Nolans version.
Conroy overall but for live action I'm going with Bale. West was perfect for a Silver Age Batman though and is my 2nd favorite live action Batman.

Edit: cuz keaton had bit of each like looks voice worsttt lolololo
Best as in he best represents batman in my taste. And as for worst, i pick clooney. I bet even clooney would pick himself.
I can honestly see a man like Adam West dressing up like a bat so that he can run around punching criminals.
Best bat voice - conroy
Worst bat voice - bale
Best batman - keaton
Best bruce wayne - bale
Assuming we are only talking about Bruce Wayne Batman (as opposed to Terry McGinnis Batman) then the rest aren't worth mentioning in my opinion.
@frozen: Bale's Batman was a better fighter? I dont remember Keaton's Batman getting beat up by his Joker. I dont remember Keaton getting set on fire, getting manhandled by thugs etc Keaton's Batman had one competitive fight in 2 movies. He beat nearly everyone with ease. Bale's Batman trains for years in sword fighting at the edge of a cliff and then gets beat down by the Joker with a crowbar! Keaton's Batman was the better fighter not to mention smarter.
@sugarnickvirga: batmans sonar vision was broken and he was using it at the time so he couldn't see. I'm sure if you got hit with a crowbar you would be hurt, right? And he was set on fire after being sprayed with fear gas.
At top form he beat bane, groups of ninjas at once, armed thugs and so on
Well Adam West is the only silver age Batman and he was very accurate to the comics. Adam was my first Batman and he is the only live action Bat. Love Adam.
But the modern Batman for me is Michael Keaton. Keaton's expressions, his eyes....he really was like a silent film actor. he didnt have to have these long pretentious good vs evil speeches like Bale. He was a better fighter than Bale's bat. He was more intelligent considering that Keaton's bat built his batcave, gadgets and vehicles whereas Bale got everything from Lucius Fox.
Silver age Batman=Adam West
*Diedrich Bader was a great silver age Batman on "The Brave and the bold"
Modern Batman in live action= Keaton all the way
Animated Batman= Conroy
*Val Kilmer and "Forever" are underrated
It's totally unfair to put Conroy in there. Yes, he's amazing, but he's only doing half the work of the others.
Bale was the best.
@jayc1324: he struggled to beat 2 dogs,he was manhandled by Jokers goons at the Bruce Wayne party. I just dont buy that Bale's Batman is any kind of special fighter. If it werent for Batman shooting those things out of his wrist at Joker's face,Joker had the fight won. Joker was resting on top of Batman! I mean what kind of Batman is that?
Then you have inconsistencies. Sometimes Bale Bat can dodge gunfire but not punches. In all 3 films he dodges machine gun fire but then he stands still and gets shot by Harvey Dent's revolver pistol?
He throws Joker off a cliff and saves him with the bat robe gun. He knocks Dent off a ledge and lets him fall to his death???
I dont get it. Those movies were good because of the villains. The Bale Bat was unremarkable for me.
Conroy captured all aspects of the character best.
Bale's Bruce Wayne was great adn captured the idea of Bruce Wayne being a mask.
It's a shame his Batman eliminated the detective and intellectual aspects of the character, and had him be a clumsy fighter in bulky armor who kills.

One, so you're saying fighting off two rottweilers isn't an impressive feat? Dude you realize any sane man would be running away scared at that point. And I don't remember him getting manhandled I remember fighting them off until he gets kicked in the stomach with Joker's shoe knife. You got me on him getting beat by Joker though but then again he was fighting blind considering his malfunctioning sonar vision. And the throwing people off the cliff. Oh and you realize that Batman stood there to get shot by Harvey because he was just playing him so he can save Gordan's kid right? What do you think he would've done? Smoke bomb and risk the kid getting shot? Rush him and risk the kid getting shot? That's not an inconsistency.
And about Bale in general, I give him praise for his Bruce Wayne. I love the subtle shifts between his serious private self and his drunken facade. While I think his intro swimming with his girls in the fountain was a bit over the top the rest of his playboy Wayne is perfectly subtle and I like it. From mocking the party guests at the end of Begins to his speech to Harvey in Dark Knight and especially all the scenes with Lucius. His Batman was only passable though I agree but I don't agree with it being all about the villains to me it was more about how they portrayed the different sides of Bruce/Batman that made these movies good.
