I think Benedict Cumberbatch would be perfect as the Joker
Batman
Character » Batman appears in 23630 issues.
Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
Who do you think should play the Joker in the Batman reboot
I think Jared Leto can leave his own stamp on the character and he is a very dedicated actor.
That said, this isnt exactly relevant, but I think Jesse Eisenberg makes better sense as the Joker than as Lex Luthor..
@deaditegonzo: I've always envisioned him as Dick Grayson to be honest, maybe not now but 10 years ago, I thought he would have been a great Nightwing.

I do not disagree! He would have been amazing (I think Joseph Gordon Levitt could have been great too, btw). Quick aside, have you seen Dallas Buyers Club? He is a very versatile and dedicated actor.
He could probably also pull off the Riddler too.
@kumquatodor: As much as I'd love to see that, he's probably too old.
@deaditegonzo: I've always seen Leto as the kid who couldn't read and had a shitty band from My So Called Life. But he was amazing in Dallas Buyers Club.

I did see DBC, I thought he went through an entire transformation in the role, both physically and acting-wise. Before Dallas Buyers Club I always thought that he was an underrated to the casual audience because while he was heavily involved with 30 Second to Mars, people kinda forgot that how good of an actor he really was.
I would rather see him as Riddler though, mostly because we've seen Joker done well twice, but we have yet to see a great Riddler.
@deaditegonzo: .......My original point still stands, though Jim Carrey being Jim Carrey was probably the most entertaining part of that movie....
Interesting question Rusty...I haven't given much thought about since Ledger was so good and it's hard seeing someone top him
-I agree that Cumberbatch could pull it off, I could see him being a good Joker
-Robert Knepper (T-Bags from the TV show Prison Break) I think could do it
-Michael Pitt is also someone that I could see doing it
-I also like the James Franco suggestion
This is the only fan casting thread I've ever seen where I actually love some of the suggestions! Nice job guys. Except Franco. I hate that guy.
Wow, a lot of great picks, I like almost every pick.
The guy who played Moriarty in Sherlock could pull it off.
Andrew Scott? Yeah he'd be great.
@rustyroy: It's the toughest role to choose a guy to play........i dont know.

I agree
CG him in the movie, with Mark Hamill voice over. :)

Won't that be too expensive? And Hamill said he won't be voicing the Joker unless its an Killing Joke movie.

......WB queue . :P
The William Dafoe mock-ups look great, and he is an amazing actor who I think would give a fantastic performance as the Joker.
Most of these actors could give us an amazing Joker Performance, but if all they do is a version of the Joker we seen before, it won't reach for the heights that Ledger achieved. I think we will be waiting a long time before we see another actor reinvent the role they way Ledger did.
I personally would like to see an actor go for the theatrical, over-the-top, Joker, but I'm afraid it'll come off as a Hamill wannabe performance.
