Never read Batman but I really want to. I just want to have some sort of quick start on the back story (or something) of the current Batman series or event. (Again, I have no idea.) Thanks in advanced for the help.

You may start with batman: year one. After that you can read man who laughs, long halloween and dark victory. If you do this, you'll get introduced to batman's start, including the start of joker, two-face and Robin

@darthaznable: Thanks for tagging me ;)

@preecer: For a quick start you can just read Year One to get an idea on batman as a chatacter and then jump into the new 52 batman series, with Court Of Owls, Death Of the Family, and Zero Year. All three stories are great and Death of The Family gives you some time with the former robins and batgirl too.

If you want to get more into the older stuff you can also read Knightfall, Hush, The Long Halloween (not canon), Death in the Family, The Killing Joke, and The dark knight returns (also not canon).

@preecer: I hope you've been enlightened since, but I still going to give you a better answer :

DC heroes got 2 reboots :

    1. 1986 - the modern age - after Crisis on infinit earth
    2. 2011 - the new 52 - after Flashpoint

You have then 3 timelines. But you can concentrate on only the newer ones.

For a good moder age timeline: www.comicvine.com/profile/batshrine/blog/batman-tpb-complete-chronology/79247/

For the new52 (which I find less interresting): read the Batman title at least
