What is your answer to that, when an ignorant person or friend says it?
I've had this argument so many times with no comic reader fans and friends.
I would just like to know if other fans of the Dark Knight get this hassle as well as me.
Batman
Character » Batman appears in 23651 issues.
Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
What's so special about Batman? He has no super powers!
Whoa, there's STILL people that think that. I thought we got rid of all of those guys in the '80s.
What I would have to say to guys who think Batman is 'uncool' because he lacks superpowers would more than likely fly over their heads. How many people would actually listen to you if you said that Batman's amazing restraint that makes him not kill badguys (who he hates enough to actually be Batman) is like a superpower? Probably just me. lol
say to them "yeah batman would be so much better if he just one hit KO'ed people the entire comic and fought generic monsters who somehow always manage to gain new infinite powers everytime he meets them but after a few issues of just punching over and over with super strength he beats them and continues to one hit KO people until a new monster shows up. Oh and he's some fruit cake who cries or gets wicked pissed whenever he meets the monster because something tragic always happens and he gets to look like a strong and emotional guy"
I say that it's because Batman has no super powers but is still able to have such a great influence across the DCU is what makes him special. Add to the fact that Batman took one of the greatest tragedies any man or woman could endure and used that darkness to convey hope instead of drowning his pain on drugs or canceling it out on suicide or genocide proves that a knight's greatest strength is from within.
As far as I'm concerned, the question answers itself: he has no super powers. That's why he's awesome. He has a moral box he can't fight the boundries of, he doesn't have a complete disreguard for the law, he'll take what he can get & does with what he has. He's imperfect & more realistic, he's not sane, he has more emotional baggage than your average bear. It'd be even cooler if he was a lower class citizen who spent his days working as a gas station clerk, but then he'd have to get all of his fancey shit from Bat-mite & Alfred couldn't make snide comments behind his back.
""Squee! I've been waiting to have an excuse to post this!

Exactly, he has no super powers. He uses something he has for good. Money. He could use the money to just be an jerk and throw parties all the time, doing whatever the hell rich kids do but he uses it to clean up the city that he loves. He CHOOSE to be a hero whereas guys like Superman or Spiderman kind of had no choice, if you had super powers you kind of have to be good or evil, you can't be normal. Well, you can try. Batman wants to change things so what happened to him doesn't happen to anyone else.

LMFAOROTF!!! This is the greatest thing I have EVER seen!!!
thats why because he has no powers god whats so hard to understand he's turned himself into an incorruptible kungfu fighting ninja escape artist who's trained all over the world to become a guardian for entire city so just stop asking stupid freakin questions that you know te answer to.
He has one of the smartest most brillant shrewd minds in the DC Universe. He's considered one of the top smartest people in the DC Universe right up there with Lex Luthor, and Mr.Terrific.
He makes the most of technology to aid him, what he fears Bats, add in being rich, he's at the peak of human perfection, and has mastered just about every Martial Arts known to man. He has a fail safe plan if any of JLA members went rogue, and is one of the best with prep time, and a tactical genius and strategist.
His will is near that of a green lantern, he was offered a yellow ring, as he causes a ton of fear, most people in gotham don't even think he's real, world's greatest detective, and he's veyr rich.
From a philosophical point of view, because batman has no super powers that help him, therefore he puts himself at more of a risk when he goes out to fight crime than someone like superman does. Therefore neglecting his own well being for others make him more heroic than heros with powers

I consider his supreme intelligence, his being excellent in martial arts and most of all his bravery as his super powers..
The fact that he has "no powers" makes him special, he uses his intellect, training and totally kick @$$ moves to overpower and incarcerate his enemies....and a great body too (which us girls appreciate more than others) which just adds to the awesomeness that is 'The Batman' :)
Well he has immense physical and mental strength without being superhuman. Also his martial arts training and high intelligence. Combine it with megabucks! And you get Batman, The Caped Crusader, The Dark Knight.
Anyway, THAT is the big deal about Batman. He has no powers, yet he still manages to beat supervillains who should outmatch him.
