The first part of "Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader" was both brilliant and...pretty crazy.  The pairing of Neil Gaiman and Andy Kubert was one that I thought I'd never see on a Batman comic.  A deluxe hardcover edition of this two part story will be released on July 22.  I'm curious how a hardcover release of just two issues will be like.  Perhaps there will be lots of extras included.  Part Two (Detective Comics #853) hits stands today.  Here is the cover courtesy of DC's The Source.

Will you pick up this hardcover?  How much would you be willing to pay for a two-issue hardcover?  I admit I'll be reeeeally tempted when this comes out.  That is a sweet looking cover.

EDIT:  I just read that this will also collects Gaiman stories from SECRET ORIGINS #36, SECRET ORIGINS SPECIAL #1 and BATMAN BLACK AND WHITE #2.

That's easily the most beautiful piece Andy Kubert has done in years...!  But I'm sad to say that it isn't enough to tempt me to buy 2 hardcovers.  I aint made of money!!

It'll be just one hardcover.  It'll have the two part story plus the three other Gaiman ones.  The first part had a Kubert art gallery.  You'd think they'd have to include that as well, but I don't have confirmation on that.

Ah, thanks.  I had a blonde moment there... It is tempting.  But I've bought hardcovers before only for them to be released a few months later as paperbacks.  Do I? Don't I? Do I? Don't I...

Oh I can't wait to pick this up! It looks so gorgeous. The art is kind of retro, too, reminiscent of old hollywood in a way. I love it. I absolutely love Kubert. :)

I'm usually a paperback guy, but this one I'm grabbing the day it comes out.

    Looks wicked.
