I`ve always wondered this. The guy is very organized and seems to have a firm foot in reality, but he also seems to have a very obsessive nature, maybe too obsessive, and thinks only of fighting crime (well, almost only) and even decides it`s a good idea to endanger children by forcing them to fight crime (especially Frank Miller`s Goddamn Batman). So, what would be enough to tip him over the edge?
Batman
Character » Batman appears in 23630 issues.
Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
What could truly make Batman snap?
Killing a loved one. He was going to kill joker when he shot Thomas Elliot. Same with Jason Todd. Same when he thought lex luthor was going to let Dick die. Surprisingly, not when Damian died. But when Ra's exhumed damians body he threatened to kill him if he did it again. Ai yeah, basically, don't mess with his robins

He tried to beat the Heretic but he couldn't. The second time when he went to fight the Heretic, he was prepared and he wanted to kill him until he saw that the Heretic had Damian´s face.
@black_arrow: Yeah he had to get the suit of sorrows and all that. I don't remember him wanting to kill him though, I'll have to take a second look.
Killing Alfred.
He can't snap, you may drive him to the edge but he will never fall.
This. This should always be the case but it varies from writer to writer.
Losing Alfred maybe.
Watching an episode of the 60's Batman TV Show with Adam West and Burt Ward might really set him off.
Some of these answers are spot on: killing Alfred or Gordon or Dick, sure that will set him off. But an answer that I do not see on here that I think would really make him lose it: killing the League right in front of him, especially his best buddy Superman.
Only problem with this scenario is this: if someone is powerful enough to murder his brother from another mother Clark and the rest of the gang, how does Batman kill this individual when he does snap?
Didn't the black glove already show what could make him snap....well as much as he can "snap"
No they make him have a mental breakdown but Batman used a back up personality. They tried to make him snap but he had prep and he beat them.
He is the Batman, he is eternal, You may drive him to edge but he will always come back better than ever.
I love this image.
Insanity isnt a real term, everybody has their problems.
People that believe other people is insane, actually watching something about themselves in others.
No one can define what is sane and what is insane.
Insane isn't really black or white. We're all pathological in our own ways.
Like Hannibal point, if many people blieve in something and act the same, you can call them insane.
Batman isnt the only one, The Punisher, Green Arrow and other do the same.
Batman decide who he is in the moment he puts his mask.
Insane people never decide to be way they are.
Is hard to believe some one can push Batman that hard.
Ok, the only way to make Batman kill is if you name is Alghul.
Batman doesn't snap. Unless he wants to snap. So, what could truly make him snap is Batman.
Batman.
The answer is always Batman.

I'm not entirely clear what is meant by "snap" in this situation. I'm going to go ahead assume it doesn't mean the trite get-him-to-kill-someone thing because it's been talked to death with no terribly interesting or decisive outcome, and also because my opinions on that topic I've learned are rather controversial and I'd rather it not veer that way since I've discussed that before. The more likely and interesting definition would seem to be something along the lines of a panic attack or nervous breakdown, something that pierces through him and makes him no longer himself in a way.
It can't be an act of violence. It doesn't matter what it is or against who, Batman's waded through enough bodies that if that was going to do it, it would have done it by now. He's Batman. He'll save the victim and if they can't be saved, he'll avenge them. That's the way the game works, and no corpse, no matter how vicious and cruel their death was breaks out of that structure. You only break him by placing him in a situation where Batman is needed but Bruce Wayne cannot act, where he is forced to sit on the sidelines and do nothing. That breaks the bounds of the system. Death and destruction is all part of the mission. Death and destruction that he isn't allowed to battle against is perhaps the one thing that's inconceivable to Batman.
He is the Batman, he is eternal, Yo may drive him to edge but he will always come back better than ever.

@linsanel_doctor: you take that back!
@deathpoolthet1000: lol
@valdemocnij: "joker true identity"
*hits blunt*
Well, nothing.
The shit that he has endured is mind blowing.
Although Batman of Earth-51 lost it after Joker kill Jason and Batman killed Joker and his entire rogues gallery.
There's so many things that could happen that would make Batman snap. My better judgement says that I shouldn't list them though.
@all-father: which issue bro
Can't really remember, read it along time ago.
The right cocktail of drugs can do any thing to the most sane person.
The Court of Owls literally tried that. Bruce still came out on top.
@all-father: which issue bro
It's in the comic "Countdown"
I suggest reading Issue: 15 & 16 but it's in issue 16.
