Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
Absolutely Batman by Scott Snyder and Greg Capuallo. Tomasi's Batman & Robin is pretty fantastic too, but I don't think DC prints a better book than Batman.

@colanicole: I'd definitely go with Batman that Snyder and Capullo are doing. I try to avoid the major titles but I have been hooked on this since it started and now near the top of my must reads every month. This book restored my faith in spandex superhero comics and kinda got me interested in reading more titles from DC.
Batman and Robin is the best followed by Batman Inc. (which is ending with issue #13) and then Batman and Detective comics. Btw Hasn't this been done before?
