I've read Shaman and Prey, but what other Legends of the Dark Knight issues are considered essential for understanding Batman's early career?

Gothic and Venom are better than Shaman and Prey.

@entropy_aegis: 'Just finished Venom and I'm reading Gothic. I think all four have their positives and negatives. Any others you could suggest? I'm looking for ones that really define his early career.

That's it,I guess Faith by Barr was cool but I honestly don't remember what happened.I would recommend Batman and the Monster Men,it's the prequel to Prey(though not a part of this series).

Yeah, I think Faith was good too. Unfortunately the artwork is really dated now. But I thought it was a really good Year 2 story.

I guess what I'm really looking for are really good Year 2 stories that would fit in continuity between Year One, Long Halloween, and Dark Victory.

Year Two was pretty bad IMO,always hated the Reaper since, have'nt even bothered to read it in 10 years.Monster Men then, have you read Mad Monk and the Man who Laughs?

Oh and don't forget the Catwoman mini after Year:one.

@entropy_aegis: Year Two is just awful. It's completely put me off of reading Year Three. I don't consider Year Two to be continuity. I've been trying to put together a list of post-crisis Batman stories (and even a few pre-crisis ones, if they're still relevant) in chronological order, so I thought that Legends of the Dark Knight is a good place to start for lesser known, but still relevant, early Batman stories. So this is why I'm asking. I haven't read Monster Men or Mad Monk yet, but I'll give them a try. :)

For Year One, the books I have so far:

    Batman: Year One

Legends of the Dark Knight: Shaman

    Catwoman: Year One

    Catwoman: My Sister's Keeper

The Killing Joke (some flashback segments)

    The Man Who Laughs
