Holy Batman-related characters, Batman! Ed Boon, the Creative Director at NetherRealm Studios started counting down from 10 on his Twitter page today. No one knew what he was up to, but once it reached zero, he tweeted a new picture of Injustice: Gods Among Us... and it shows three new characters that Batman knows quite well.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say could be a screenshot from the story mode since it involves so many characters at once. But this begs the question... are Killer Croc, Riddler and Penguinplayable or are their roles limited to being enemies in the campaign? We'll find out in due time.  

Viners,would you want any of those characters to be playable, and if so, what alternate costumes would you want for them?

Injustice: Gods Among Us comes out April 16th.

I don't really see playing as riddler or penguin.While they do have fighting skills,they aren't really fighters.

I'm ok with croc being a playable baddie, but Penguin & Riddler bring nothing to the table. Except cheap tricks whereas Killer Croc is a powerhouse!! :D

Just Croc.Riddler and Penguin can't fight, i'm sure there will be plenty of pissing about "too many Batman characters", I'm still hoping for Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze. Power Girl, Atrocitus, and Black Canary would be great otherwise everyone i would've wanted to be in the game,IS in

Croc would be cool as a playable characters. The other two aren't suited to fighting games. And I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Aquaman and Wildcat.

I'm betting Croc is a playable character and that Riddler and Penquin are just background characters for what I'm guessing is an Arkham Asylum stage. I guess Croc would round out the number of big heavy fighters in the game to three (Bane and Grundy being the other two) which seems about right.

They should have called this game "Injustice: Batman and Superman Among Us". Still excited for the story mode but this roster is rife with Bats and Supes characters.

I'd rather them not be playable in order to make room for other, some might say more important, heroes and villains. don't get me wrong, I love Croc and the Riddler, the Penguin not so much, but there are others that should take precedence over them.

Word. DC games seem to lack diversity of characters. What about Metallo, Vandal Savage, Major Force, Captain Atom, or Cheetah? Now those would fit the "Gods among us" tag.

I am sceptical he looks exactly like in arkham asylum might be fake, altough croc might be a character that Netherealm is intrested in by his animalistic and brutal apearance . I like Riddler but he wouldn't be much of a fighting character.

I think they've got too many Batman characters. Also Penguin and Riddler are crap at fighting.

Too many Bat characters, and what is this? A Bat story, no it's not. And why have they taken the skin from Arkham Asylum? Also Riddler and Penguin would be terrible playable characters.

All 3 of those characters look pasted in...also, it's not just Croc in this picture who has his Arkham City garb on...it's all 3. This looks photoshopped, for the reason above as well as the way Croc's finger almost looks like it's phasing through Flash's mouth.

I'm down for the Riddler; just not Croc and Penguin.

Well since Wal-Mart has the Arkham City costume pack for its preorder bonus maybe this is a stage that comes with it thats based on Arkham City. Riddler and penguin could just be standing around in the background and Killer Croc might be a stage hazard that you can throw your enemy into. Thats my best guess.

If they are playable, i may not buy injustice "Batman amongst us". With a limited number of characters, to devote so many to Batman is ridiculous. Batman, The Joker, maybe even Harlequin, and Cat-Woman but Night-Wing?... enough! and now these three? come on! where is Zatanna, Black Canary, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman, we need villians? Ok how about Circle, Dr. Light, Cheetah, Gorilla Grodd, Metallo, Dead shot, Sinestro, Black Adam, Captain Cold, Artemis or Eclipso?

that Batman's Arkham Asylum costume is going to be included in the game. It would make sense that other bat-related characters would receive Arkham style alternative costumes as well. Also while Croc's character model is similiar to the Arkham series, I think it's noticably different from the one below

I'd wager Croc is definitely going to be in this upcoming title. As for Riddler and Penguin, my bet would be they're just part of the scenery.

In any case, I cannot wait for this game.

@paulcousins: Actually friend, Nightwing is a pretty big superhero in his own right with a sizable fanbase. The character has been able to maintain his own solo series for roughly 18 years now (not an easy task). Additionally Dick was featured as the leader of the Teen Titans since the mid 80's as Nightwing and since the late 60's as Robin. He's also lead the Outsiders and served on the JLA. If any Bat related character deserves to be in a fighting game (or any DC game really) it's Dick Grayson.

Croc is a fine choice for a fighting game... but Penguin and Riddler? There's a reason you don't actually fight these people in Arkham City.

Looks fake to me, that appears to be the exact Croc model from the Arkham games. Penguin looks very similar, Riddler is a bit too out of focus to tell. I'd believe they are using the characters but not those models.

It would be interesting if these characters served as some type of hazard in an Arkham Asylum stage. Make it a riot where the the characters have surrounded the fighters and if you are knocked into the sides they attack you. Also I would like to see the Riddler as a playable character just to see how they incorporate his staff into the fight.
