Superman can process information faster. That does not mean he is smarter than Batman when it comes to tactical ability. I love both super-heroes but gosh is it ever annoying when people make that comment.

Yes but mostly every comment about who would win this fight is ridiculous if you think about it. Superman vs. Batman is a tie in my eyes ( even tho batman is my favorite hero and i would want him to kick Supes ass)

Superman has an amazing mind. Its quick at learning and understanding and analyzing and he has an impeccable memory.

But batman went to the best colleges, invents stuff constantly, is a deeper thinker, made the worlds best computer and all his amazing gadgets and suits. He somehow finds a way to survive and fight against god like characters. And of course he is the worlds greatest detective. Superman is definitely smart, but Batman is clearly smarter.

If you think realistically, Superman has the potential to be unbelievably intelligent. Though it's not reality, it's a comic book. If you actually think about it, though, Batman is consistently written as being far more intelligent than Superman.

Superman is smarter than Batman. Superman is the son of the greatest scientist on Krypton, a planet a thousand years ahead of Earth. Pre 52 he rebuilt the phantom zone projector, built Superman robots, and did all kinds of other science stuff. Powers wise, his intellect has to be enhanced along with the rest of his natural abilities, and he would have to be very intelligent to control his powers. All of that being said, Batman is ruthless, which gives him an edge strategically, and Superman is never portrayed as taking full advantage of his superior intellect.

@rulerofthisuniverse: His super brain is conveniently forgotten for the sake of keeping other intelligence-focused heroes and villains (not those who are super geniuses themselves like Brainiac but guys like Luthor and Bruce who are within human limits) competitive and relevant.

Would it be considered bad writing for Superman when his super intelligence is brought up, or when it's forgotten like it usually is?

@rahulrakeshprasad: I never said he has no tactical ability, I just said Batman has more. Otherwise why would the justice league be needed, when Superman is super powerful and one of the most intelligent beings on earth.

@highlyevolved: I know what you meant.. that's exactly what the writers thought of pre crisis Superman and is often questioned today? Why would Superman need the Justice League? but it's quite the other way around the Justice League needs Superman.. Earth 16 he wasn't the Founding Members.. SO you can't really question him being in the Justice League but you can question What would the Justice League be without him? Can you think of any battles won just because Superman or Batman showed up? I can
