Sorry to say but I must be honest. Snyder is overrated. I reading his arc, and I follow the review....and...10/10...seriously? Why? Zero Year is just a good story, 7/10 probably, nothing more.
Batman
Character » Batman appears in 23651 issues.
Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
Snyder overrated
Ah O.K. I'm a little behind everyone else as I get the British reprints of that series, and we're only at #23, but so far 10/10 seems a bit high. 7/10 seems more accurate for me too.
Scott Snyder
Ruiner of superman
Killer of batman
I actually think Zero Year is the best (Batman) story he's done since the Black Mirror (so far at least). But a 10/10? No.
To give a story a 10/10 it's gotta be so incredible a storyline that you read it t the point of knowing most of the txt. ok, I may be exaggerating a bit there, but you get my drift
@alexander505: you make a good point
I think Snyder is a very good writer but I have to agree that those issues are overrated.
Think the only real problem I have with Snyder is how his ideas are now, by what appears to be editorial default, shared so everyone else gets to do the same dance and that none of the stories are really geared for the amount of tie-ins they get as a result.
That said, I think he is more than capable as a Bat-writer, but he's not as stellar as scores might suggest.
I have to say that I disagree. The work he does is great! sure, it isn't perfect but no writer is. He captures Batman incredibly. I have to say that he is one of the best Batman writers today...following Grant Morrison of course

Which is why it shouldn't be getting constant perfect scores. Nothing short of absolute brilliance should get a 10/10.
Exactly...HIs zero stuff is close to an 8. He isn't terrible and he most certainly is not the killer of superman and batman. My biggest issue with him is that some of this work is similar to Morrison's work

How on Earth is anything Snyder has done similar to Morrison's work?
Weren't you one of the complainers saying that Court of Owls was similar to the Black Glove?
BB
10/10? Yeah that's heavily overrated. Very few stories are that good, or can hope to be that good. Zero Year isn't one of them, and lord knows that Court of Owls and Death of the Family also weren't.
Please stop with the word "overrated". Just because you may not like something as much as other, does not make it overrated.
It has been explained many times on this site that 5/5 in Comicvine doesn't mean perfect, it means excellent or very good. Personally I didn't feel issue 24 was excellent good but it was probably because people all around reviewed it extremely well and really raised my expectations. It probably deserves that 9.3 it had in comickbookroundup thought depends on opinion.

My complaint wasn't just specific to the Black Glove, it was that Court of Owls was similar to a whole bunch of Batman vs secret plot to break Batman and/or take over Gotham stories that have been done over the years, like Knightfall and Prey before it. It bears no thematic similarities to Morrison's work beyond the plot outline.

Yeah Snyder is really overrated. His dialogue is usually atrocious. Cappulo's beautiful art has made Batman since the reboot, not Snyder's writing.
@v_scarlotte_rose: Dude I'm from the UK too and we arnt on issue 25 we are on issue 25 the same as the USA
@strongarm: Dude your just wrong

You sir, are wrong. He's dialogue is great, I suppose you think you could do better?
@strongarm: Your taking about Zack Snyder and not Scott Snyder arnt you
I'm not going to lie, I used to think so as well, but when I saw the people DC was hiring, and the praise they weregetting, mostly people from europe and whatever, and this one 'murican writing what most people are calling the best comic in DC right now...
I'm not calling myself a nationalist, but it is good to see that we have some competence in storytelling.
So no, I don't think Scott Snyder is overrated. He's just writing the most overrted character, whom reviewers give high scores each time he comes out with a comic.

"Overrated" has to be the most-abused word on this website.
Well I really like him. Black Mirror, Court/Night of Owls were really good. Death of the Family was fairly good until the end, but still good. I didn't like Zero Year in the beginning but the last two issues have been great!
@twentyfive: ? Most people in the industry are from US? It's why it's sometimes called the American comic book industry.
@strongarm: You know what go troll another site.
@strongarm: saying you want to shiv him is a start.
@v_scarlotte_rose: Dude I'm from the UK too and we arnt on issue 25 we are on issue 25 the same as the USA
I know the American issues are available at the same time, but I get Batman in the reprint series that Titan publishes. The most recent issue printed Batman #23, Batman Incorporated #13, Batman and Catwoman #22 and Nightwing #19. The word "dude" doesn't apply to me by the way.
he's the best baman writer ever.
/ thread.
I wonder how many Batman writers you know.
