Just kidding.
Batman
Character » Batman appears in 23635 issues.

He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
Scott Snyder's Batman run is very bad.
@jayc1324: @deathstroke52: I started out good but it increasingly got worse and worse. I have no fear in saying I don't like it.
@dernman: In all seriousness, I don't mind his run. I just think Zero Year went on a tad bit too long.
@dernman: I'm not gonna try to convince you to like it, I am just curious what you don't like about it if you don't mind telling
You got me there. What's your favourite story?
Court of Owls. How about you?
@deathstroke52: I just read you thought zero year was too long but I really liked it. I did read it in TPB though so maybe this story is better read as a tpb. I also like court of owls and Black Mirror.

Yeah, probably.
The quality has declined a bit since Court of Owls, and it's not the best Batman run out there, but it's still one of my personal favorites.

Totally agree. His run is good, but for me Zero Year went on far too long and sort of killed it for me. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy reading every issue that comes out but just not as much now.
@deathstroke52: i disagree with you but i respect your opinion. Who would you prefer to be writing Batman?
Just kidding.
Not gonna lie, I think it's horrible... But eh, to each their own.
I think is good, but I kinda like Batman and Robin a bit more cuz Father and Son fighting crime that's a very cool concept to me.
> Court of Owls was really good -- one of my favorites from the New 52.
> Death of the Family was okay. I don't think it was bad by any means but by the same token it wasn't great.
> Zero Year went onn for way too long and was so damn boring that I still haven't even read the last act to that arc. I much prefer Year One.
> They completely lost me at Endgame and I don't think I'll be coming back.
I would say that I'd just stick with Manapul and Bucellatos excellent run on Detective Comics, but I don't like how Snyders run is going to have a heavier influence Post-Convergence.
@sinntek1: That's fine. I understand.
@deathstroke52: i disagree with you but i respect your opinion. Who would you prefer to be writing Batman?
I guarantee nobody will like this but... Geoff Johns

Such a hero ;_;

Why do you choose him?

I like how he writes Batman TBH
YOU DON'T JOKE ABOUT THAT YOU SONOFAB---
@deathstroke52: ok cool...what do you like about the way he does batman ?
@ironknight1: I feel like he writes Batman the way he was meant to be written. He does a good job of giving everybody focus in his Justice League run. In the fairly recent Amazo Virus story arc, the issue that primarily featured Batman catching the virus was written very well. And I like the dialogue that Johns gives him, like his one liners.
I like how he wrote Bats in Earth One.
And I don't think Johns hates Batman like some people do. He just doesn't write him in the same way that the writers of his current books do.
@deathstroke52: I see where your coming from
I loved Court of owls and city of owls, death of the family was pretty good, the zero year stuff dragged on and was alright at first but then it grew on me. With the endgame stuff it's alright it will depend on the last issue and what direction they go with it. I'm interested to see what this suit is gunna be that they keep showing as advertisement for convergence
Frankly it's pretty bad now.
Snyder has been tasked with a task that is far beyond his skill in my opinion.
- His best batman stories are the black mirror and gates of gotham.
- Court of owl is a great concept with a great start and a poor finish. You can start to see some of the problems of Snyder writing (not very subtle symbolism, overanalysis, problem of pacing)but it's overlooked thanks to freshness.
-Then you have death of the family where things start to go bad very quickly. Bad concept, worse execution. The in your face symbolism and overreaching analysis start to get very troublesome.
-Zero year is ok althought he constantly references the past and fails to bring anything new to the plate. Basically it's a cute update. Making the red hood gang leader competent was a nice change but by the end of the story he tries to make it look more complex than it needs to be which kind of spoils it.Give me Year One or even Earth One any day.
-Endgame is simply awful. Same problems as death of the family but 10fold.
His good stories and his bad stories have a clear difference : he's on new grounds in the former case and he's retreading old ground in the latter. In black mirror he can flesh up a brand new batman in the person of dick grayson, in gates of gotham he can make an important tale about a little known period with the first families of gotham, in court of owl thanks to the reboot he can come up with a brand new threat of his own.
But when it comes to writing old characters... oh boy.... Snyder has decades of history and he s tasked with living up to this legacy and show he's the main writer for DC with johns. And that's when he s completely out of the water. Snyder tries to reinvent the character and it's either shallow (death of the family, zero year ) or so bold that it simply ignores the very thing that made the character. I m not saying it's an easy task, simply Snyder has to deal with the marketing machine and he has to overwrite or overhype those piss poor stories. He's like this guy that always has to come up with a twist so-very-clever that ultimately it makes no sense.
His Joker is painfully bad. I dread the second he's going to open his mouth. He lacks any kind of real spontaneity. Snyder write the Joker like some kind of DC Doctor Doom, an evil genius mastermind able to overcome everybody at the same time (death of the family) omnipotent and omniscient and who now turns out to be immortal (endgame). Morrison had the BatGod, now Snyder has the JokerGod. In some ironic way in spite of all this power and plenty of shock value (joker playing with his own cut face, batfamily disfigured, alfred's hand severed) he does nothing of consequence . The joker beat to death jason todd with a crowbar, crippled barbara gordon, killed sarah essien. All those things had long lasting consequences or/and conveyed important point (in barbara gordon's case the nature of evil and the legitimity of justice system) . That's pretty powerful and gives him some cred. Snyder's joker was supposed to do something unspeakable in death of the family : no one died. Snyder argues that he destroyed the batfamily : except they are all back in line by endgame. Now he cut alfred's hand : how long before Batman use the dionesyum and give him back his hand?
As far as I am concerned, I hope his run on Batman ends soon. He's a pretty good writer I think but he's no moore or miller and he's completely unable to treat skillfully those old characters.
Court of Owls & Death of the Family = good
Zero Year = too long & too boring
Endgame = quite interesting, for now

I can agree with that.

You bring up some good points.
Sorry he is garbage every story is about how arrogant bruce is and with bullshit with this new cop batman snyder needs to leave soon
I really like Capullo's art but I haven't been the biggest fan of Snyder's writing. He tends to go into a lot of detail for minor things which can be pretty annoying.
It's funny how people always try to downplay success. If you don't like his writing don't read the comic. But then again I guess that makes way too much sense for some of you.
Its hit or miss with mostly misses.
Court of Owls was good. DotF was bad, derivative and unsatisfying. Zero Year's first two arcs were boring, too long and they tackled a story that has been done better in the past. The third arc was better.
The post-convergence concept seems interesting and Bruce not being a protagonist is good since Snyder can't write Bruce.
