It seems like it's only been building since the "New 52" started but BATMAN writer has been showing us that the Court of Owls has been scheming for decades.

Beginning this week in BATMAN #8 and NIGHTWING #8, Night of the Owls begins. This isn't just an ordinary Batman story. It's so big, it will be crossing over into the other Bat-Family titles. Batman didn't do too well after his first encounter. This week's issue has an interesting cover.

Over at DC's blog, Snyder was quoted as saying, "Night of the Owls is here, and it's about time."

    No Caption Provided

This is the moment the writers have been waiting for and this is the moment the Court has been to make their move. Covers are sometimes deceiving but if you read BATMAN #7 (and shame on you if you haven't), you know the Court has unleashed several Talons out upon Gotham. Batman had a helluva time against one. He's barely had time to recover and now it looks like he'll be facing a lot more.

Snyder also points out another way time plays into all this. The Talons are all from different era.

    == TEASER ==

Speaking of Talons from a different era. The cat was let out of the bag concerning the Talon we've been seeing in the pages of BATMAN and his connection to Dick Grayson.

    No Caption Provided

This week's issue #8 of NIGHTWING will deal with Dick trying to save one of the Court's targets plus will reveal the untold story of William Cobb.

If you haven't been reading the Batman titles, you need to rectify that and get ready for this huge comic event.

Out of all of the books involved in the event, I only read Batman, Batman & Robin, and All Star Western. I will NOT purchase any other books just for the sake of keeping up with the entire event, I'll read spoiler reviews of the other books instead. I am a huge Snyder fan so I am extremely excited for this, it's been talked about on Twitter pretty much since the DC relaunch. Batman has been great and it's only getting better with each new issue. Capullo's artwork is fantastic, I absolutely love it, I get stuck on a single page for way longer than necessary just admiring his talent. There, however, should be like a one-shot in which Batman just goes to a carnival or sits in the bath with some bath salts and bubbles, candles lit all around him, Enya playing in the background....Batman needs a break, Snyder has been kicking his ass since he started writing Batman. Poor Bruce.

So the title made me think this was going to be an interview with Scott Snyder. Sadly it was just two cover images. :(

Batman has been fantastic so far, but I don't like the fact I will have to buy other titles for the whole story so I will simply be sticking with just Batman. Bad enough that its getting a price increase.

Batman is seriously my favorite of the New 52, and if this amazing story is crossing over into the other Bat-Family books, I'm there. The Court of Owls story has been absolutely incredible.

See this is what I have been saying for the longest time, You CAN create new villains and ideas WITHOUT killing established characters, or altering their powers, or "GETTING BACK TO BASICS"

    BRAVO!!

However...is this the 90's with the multi title crossovers? Why not include all the characters in the one book...makes you wonder how big this tale truly is that we need to see it from Multiple angles?

I really hope that it is a cross over and each comic has its own story with the Talons. I only read Batman, Birds of Prey and Red Hood that have direct bat family tie in. It gets pricy when I have other comics to read cross overs. Plus if I am not interested in the art style of a book no matter how awesome the story is the art takes away from it. If not I will just have to wait for a TPB which will suck.

I read Batman, Nightwing, and Red Hood. Trusting Snyder's work, I can safely say that it won't be a heavily bogged series of tie-ins. Each book follows its own take regarding the Court of Owls attacking Gotham. With that said, is it Wednesday yet? :)

They do it just to bump sales on the other books but welcome to the real world DC and Marvel. We would all buy every book on the shelf if we could but normal people can't afford to do that

You don't have to read every issue of those comics. Nightwing was dealing with saiko #1-#7.

Other series have nothing to do with Talons. They will only appear in issue #9 of Catwoman, Dark knight, Batgirl,Batwing, Birds of prey, Batman & Robin and Red hood & outlaws.

You sillies. You don't need to read every Bat title to get the whole story. The main story is in Batman. The other titles are just dealing with their own owl problems that have nothing to do with the main plot.

Yeah the execution is severely lacking here,I'll be very much surprised if this crossover actually means something. So far I get the feeling that it's just a rehash of Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul which had hordes of fodder ninjas getting stomped through out the various batbooks.

Snyders next arc seems more promising than this, the Court is just dull and lacks substance.

It seems like Synder has set up the Court of Owls to fall on their own arse. What's the point of releasing the same batch of assassins to kill Batman, if he has already isolated their weakness................. ?

Sweet, let's see how this rips off Morrison's Batman. -____-

How has it ripped off Morrison's Batman so far?

I dont think Snyder is ripping off Morrison per se,it's just that whatever he's doing right now feels like a poor mans version of what Morrison did.

I've enjoyed it. Morrison's stuff was fantasitc, no question, but it's a lot harder to read through. Synder's Detective Comics run was superb.

That's how I've sort of seen Snyder's stuff, as an easier to read adaptation of Morrison's.
