Looks more to me like Kevin Smith making a joke for the reader :P
Don't read too much into that.
- The other guy said that, not Bats
- Probably to rassure that other guy
- Bats probably made that up for this whole purpose
Batman
Character » Batman appears in 23630 issues.
Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
Off My Mind: Did Batman Really Wet His Pants?
Kevin Smith was inserting a bit of his own life into the comic when he made Batman piss himself.
What Kevin Smith does on a daily basis, he wants the characters he is writing to do the same.
When we were "laughing", and I say this loosely, at Kevin Smith's movies, we were laughing at him and his life.
This is why they call it Kevin Smith's Batman.
Didn't read widening gyre, dropped it after the first issue. Reason being Morrison's Batman was kicking into high gear, and I felt it would just be throw away. Annnnnnd the last time I read or tried to read a Kevin Smith Mini series, it took like 3 years to finish (that spiderman black cat one).
I would like to see him do an arc or write a regular book again. Since I don't know what he's doing with himself at this point.
This is what happens when you have too many Batman books, somebody does something stupid like this. That was worst than what happened in every Rise of Arsenal book
" kevin smith is losing his touch :(Barney from How I met your mother?to semi-qoute barney:
NOT AWESOME

I'm sorry but i cant believe comic vine wasted their time writing on this.........i know super heroes are larger than life and all but to a certain degree there has to be some realism here and pissing ones pants out of fear is very real. Ever wander why soldiers tuck their pants legs in their boots or use staps to keep the rolled up? its not for style or uniformity nope militarties world wide do it because soldiers shit and piss themselves during combat all the time. kudos to kevin smith for doing research.
This was a bad choice. Batman needs street cred to do his job. Pissing one's pants does not contribute to that. Also, why would he even bother to divulge this information to some fool he doesn't really know. Come on! This is taking the human aspect of Batman too far. It may have seemed bold and daring at the time to write this in the comic, but in hindsight, it should seem like a silly mistake, kinda' like...wetting your own pants.
Kevin Smith's a fat-a$$ idiot. I dropped this crappy series after the first issue. Smith seems intent on making Batman look bad, and what kind of a writer makes a characted look lame on purpose? ESPECIALLY Batman?!?!
That's like revealing that Wolverine kissed a guy once when he was "experimenting in college" just to make him seem "more relatable" or whatever.
I hate it when writers try to seem original and genius by sh!tting on a character *cough*Morrison*cough*Miller*cough*
It takes real talent to write interesting stories about a character without resorting to these cheap attention-getting stunts.

You want "human"? GO READ SPIDER-MAN.
batman does not comfort people, the moment they turn their backs on him, bats disappears and leaves them talking to themselves. the bats does not even shares details of his personal life no matter what!
but yeah, he pisses himself. rite.
and supes sh@t himself while being a badass to lois.
So, well, who cares about a Book that will not be remembered in 5 years from now. If the Name "Kevin Smith" sell, it´s clear that DC got his Batman running. I don´t see him as the good director or writer that he is hyped for....
I really don't understand why people are making such a fuss about it. The argument is just really silly and if you're expecting more from Kevin Smith, you're in for a big surprise.
In my opinion, Gyre has been a great run so far.

soldiers piss themselves, soliders poop themselves, same with cops, fireman and so forth. not all the time ofcourse but is not uncommon first time in a fire fight. the fact that so many of you are worked up about this is redonkulous .
Writing on Batman sucks across the board anyway these days so it doesnt really surpirise someone came up with this one. I was actually starting to like Kevin Smith.
Odin forbid we display any humanity in the Dark Knight for we all know he was clairvoyant tech ninja since he was eight.

Theres a difference in humanity and what happened here.
The reality of the situation is, his current suit allows for it. I wouldn't say that his pants were wet. Furthermore, a bladder spasm can still be produced even without a full bladder. If it was empty, nothing happened.
Do you truly believe that with all the exercise he gets fighting criminals, the water he takes in wouldn't leave his body beforehand? I'm no expert in bio-chem, however, I believe that he empties his bladder before he goes out to fight crime, and there wouldn't be anything in it in the first place.
Hmm..I don't really see what the big deal is. Wouldn't you be wetting your pants if you were being chased by criminals and thugs, avoiding gun fires, diving out of exploding buildings...etc for the first time.
@misterdk: I really want to kill myself after seeing this panel.
This is a really old thread, but anything written by Kevin Smith should not be touched with a ten foot pole.
Kevin Smith most likely got this from Q from Impractical Jokers (or TESD if you're an ant). After hearing Kevin Smith, he just likes to put inside jokes that only him and his friends would get. It's an annoying trait, which bothers me even more when he talks so passionately as if he didn't do something stupid that alienates the viewer just to get a dumb joke across. At best do it as a background thing. Anyway, back to the main point, Q was a firefighter and he said it's a common thing that happens to firefighters, so it's not like it's not backed in logic, it's just a long way to go for a tid bit that just makes him look silly... jesus I'm defending Batman, ugh Kill me
Batman wetting his pants = funny and understandable. I mean the guy fights the equivalent of Hell's demons in human form on a daily basis. That makes him seem oh so human and relatable.
Joker strip teasing = pathetic; it was OOC for the clown, certainly, and it was also just plain old inappropriate. It would have been okay if he would have just turned around, dropped his pants, and finished at that, but all of the innuendos, oh no! Joker is supposed to be a highly refined character, for the most part.
It's from a non canon story, so no.
True.
also Smith can't write.
@eto: Smith is terrible I agree...
@darkhoudini: yep...
