New Details for 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2' Blu-Ray/DVD Release

Posted by G-Man (37754 posts) - - Show Bio

It's hard to believe that the first part of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns was released back in September. The first movie contained the first two volumes of the miniseries. Today Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released some information about the upcoming release.

Michael Emerson (Person of Interest, Lost) and Mark Valley (Human Target, Fringe) join the voice cast as Joker and Superman. Peter Weller continues as Bruce Wayne/Batman. It will be available as a Blu-ray Combo Pack ($24.98 SRP), DVD ($19.98 SRP) and On Demand & Digital Download. The Blu-ray will include UltraViolet.

The Blu-ray will have more than two hours of content including a sneak peek at the next DC Universe Animated Original Movie, Superman: Unbound. There will be an all-new featurette, "The Joker: Laughing in the Face of Death" giving a tribute to the character, a new documentary "Superman vs. Batman: When Heroes Collide, a featurette on the animatic breakdown of five of director Jay Oliva's favorite moments, two bonus episodes from Batman: The Animated Series ("The Last Laugh" and "The Man Who Killed Batman") and one from The New Batman Adventures ("Legends of the Dark Knight") chosen by producer Alan Burnett.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 will be released on January 29, 2013.

Sounds great! Cant wait to watch that Superman: Unbound and cant wait to watch this movie!

DC's animated movies are the reason I'm reading comics today!

I wish they would open it up more. It's all Batman and Superman. The movies are great but come on! There's more than 2 heroes at DC.

Next movie after Unbound is Flashpoint. Still, I agree.

Sadly it's because even thought movies like the Wonder Woman one were great and well made, they just don't sell as well. I also want more variety.

Superman: Unbound. Y'know, the Brainiac movie.

@SmashBrawler: but to be fair, there's a lot of Batman in Flashpoint too. Well...a Batman :p

Wonder Woman outsold many of the Superman and Batman films. So did Green Lantern: First Flight. They should at least make more Wonder Woman and Green Lantern films.

I'm looking forward to Justice League: Flashpoint most because it has Cyborg in it. Superman Unbound should be good but they are clearly shooting for the Man of Steel audience.

@Gambit1024: Wish they had gone with Last Son and Legion of Super Heroes first, though. And yeah, Unbound is a weird title, I don't get it.

@Sammo21: Yeah, I know... still, we got a Flash movie! ...Sort of :P

#13 Posted by Gambit1024 (9890 posts) - - Show Bio

@SmashBrawler: Last Son would've been awesome. Great timing too, considering Zod and MoS.

Awesome

@Gambit1024: Yup, I was thinking the exact same thing. Kind of a no-brainer if you ask me.

The chart of sales was very surprising to me. I always thought that titles like Wonder Woman and Green Lantern did not far well. Thanks a lot for posting the information.

Just want it to be here already so I can have both movies to watch all the way through. Can't wait!

Looking forward to part 2 of the Dark Knight Returns but that cover is awful. Should be Frank Miller Art punching superman.

You mean like. . . Wonder Woman? I kid, I kid. I agree. I would actually really like to see something with Wildcat. I know he's not terribly popular, but I like him a lot and he's extremely underused.
